Major Garrett has sources on both sides of the aisle telling him we can write the bill's obituary. Roll call going on now.

I weep for Lott's loss. It must have been a tremendous burden to bear the cross of America's mean and hateful attitude toward ILLEGAL immigrants. Someone pass a Kleenex. It's too much, too much, I tell you.

The problem with Kyl is he did a 180, completely reversed himself from what he promised during the campaign. I don’t think the voters of Arizona are too happy with him right now.

“W still needs to be straightened out on this issue.”

W needs to be gone.

To be honest, I don’t believe it until I hear it from the Senate, and see the main proponents of the bill pissed off that it’s dead.

I think we keep calling until we’ve got better proof than one tv report. This could be a way to get our guard down.

Keep calling. Use the 800 number: 800-417-7666. Senior senator: press 1 at first message, then 1 at the second message. Junior senator: press 2 at 1st message, then 1 at second message.

Good job, FReepers.

Ditto

But while we have had some success in stopping this treasonous bill, we have accomplished nothing in the area of forcing the federal government to enforce the current laws.

How many thousands of illegals have entered the US while we have been fighting our hearts out to stop amnesty and *legalized* unlimited influx of Mexicans?

This is truly a pyrrhic victory if the end of the Republican Party results and illegals continue unabated.

You don't have to trust him. Just look at what interests him, and it's clear he has no desire to continue debate on this bill. For now, it's dormant.

It won't be dead until the next election, though.

Ok, if Reid is blaming Republicans for the death of the bill, then I guess he intends to let it die.

If Republicans (even those who were for it) had any brains whatsoever, they'd act like they KILLED IT ON PURPOSE and take credit for it!

As bad as this was, it would be utterly stupid for AZ voters to kick out Kyl, who has been about a 90% ACU rating. Except for this, he has been rock solid on everything else. I don’t think he should be lumped in. He made a mistake. Even Reagan admitted to some.

And as to the senior Senator from Arizona...???

What he means is that if at any moment they can get 60 votes, the Traitors will rush to the Senate and pass the Surrender To Mexico Act of 2007.

“Even Reagan admitted to some.”

Lets see if Kyl admits to making a mistake first.

That is exactly what I am hearing. I am hopeful that nothing gets passed. Illegals taking advantage of our tax dollars is one thing but handing entitlements to them is simply another all together. I surely hope it rots somewhere or maybe it can misplace somewhere on a desk corner in the White House for transport to the Bush Library.

No, they certainly aren’t. I think he looked at the Hayworth and Graf losses and figured people wouldn’t get too worked up about illegals. And by the time he figured out he was wrong, it was too late to back out without looking like a total fool. So he just continued riding the wrong horse.

Sessions, Cornyn and I think Dorgan deserve credit IF it’s killed for the second time in two years. But I don’t trust this Congress not to try and take it up again when they think no one is looking. just because reid said he’d pull it, doesn’t mean he will.

Sessions has been great from start to end though. Dorgan’s amendment was poisen to the business lobby. And Cornyn unlike Kyl has actually hung tough. I must admit some surprise. While he and Kyl are more liberal then I am on a guest worker program, I would have pegged Cornyn as the one to jump if either did to the kennedy/mccain/bush bill sell out.

Glad I was wrong about him. As for Kyl, he just proved little good comes from Arizona Senators. The longer they serve, the greater possibility they’ll turn on us. From Goldwater to McCain. Now him.
