The headline says four Senators and names them, but later the story names five, including Jim Bunning who was left out of the headline.
Senator Dole is LIDDY Dole, not LIBBY Dole. In fact, it’s said by those close to her that she hates to be called LIBBY. I don’t blame her. With the last name Dole, especially, that whole name would be nothing but a joke.
This has been corrected on this forum hundreds of times, but to no avail.
Also, I’ve told others dozens of times that she’s not a liberal. I never claimed she was EXTREMELY conservative on every issue, but I’ve been repeatedly proven right that a LIB she ain’t.
Now, ya gotta know that she’s representing the interests of her NC consituents, as well. That state has taken a gigantic hit what with cheap imports and cheap labor. She must’ve figured this bill would not only not fix the cheap labor problem but would worsen it, no matter what the bill proponents hoped it would do.
Shows she’s of a practical turn of mind, as well. The bill isn’t workable. It’s dreaming to assume the gov. could deliver even a fraction of what this bill promises. President Bush and others on his side continue to trust way too much in the federal government “big solution” compromise. Not Liddy.
At the same time, she’s a lady, NOT a neanderthal engaging in horribly crude and demeaning attacks on the President and others as so many have (not in the Senate, but among the base). In fact, hats off to Sessions, Cornyn, et al, for their guts AND their civilized conduct in this fight.
Thank you! I was about to start hollerin’ about the Libby thing.
Unfortunately the libs quickly learned the lesson and their uses of the funding-withold-mandate is not for such wonderful purposes.
Expect it to be a major feature in homosexual marraige end-game antics, wherein conservative states will be forced to bow down to the new orthodoxy of sodmite-rights, or lose massive federal funds.
