A judge on Thursday made it official: Bilbo's Bar and Grill will have to remove its smoking paraphernalia, making it Southern Nevada's first business reprimanded for violating the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act.
Customers responded: Kiss my ashtray.
On Thursday night, while watching the NBA Finals, a few customers at Bilbo's on West Charleston Boulevard had their lighters on the bar, cigarettes in hand, discarding their ashes in red plastic cups.
Even if the spirit of the law was going up in flames, the bar was complying with the letter of the law, having removed the ashtrays and matches that it had contended were a form of advertising. The items are emblazoned with the restaurant's name and the addresses of its three locations.
Even nonsmoking customers sympathized.
"I think the law is extreme," said Chris Cleary, a construction worker who quit smoking two years ago.

Good to see a little revolt for once. You sure don't see it very often.
I bet if they decided to outlaw knives and forks at Las Vegas buffets--- the chubby Judge Adair would be literally fuming.
At first, I thought that it was Rosie O’Doughnut.
Dang, I guess since Vegas went under the only place left to go on vacation is Mexico.
She and Rosie do bear a resemblance dont they? Probably a lot more than we realise.
That’s Las Vegas. I sure wouldn’t get on the bad side of them.
Naw, Judge Adair looks to be pretty competent at stuffing her face. Lack of silverware wouldn't be an obstacle at all.
Let me get this straight... Nevada... prostitution is legal, gambling is the biggest industry — and they have banned smoking?
Weird beyond words...
It gets down to the denial of air conditioning to smokers.
To set the record straight, Las Vegas is located in Clark County.
Prostitution is NOT Legal in Clark County.
Almost everyone outside Sin City thinks it is legal; but, it is not.
To further clarify, it is enforced similar to the Immigration Act of 1986!
As a side note, casino’s are exempt. Do I need to say hmmm?
Not a bad idea. All the traffic is going the other way.
The law is an ass. The owners of the business should be the ones to decide whether or not to allow smoking.....it’s THEIR property.
I heard Bloomberg, the nanny state mayor of New York,
fined a business in Brooklyn for having an ash tray on the premises. Unbelieveable!
My question is: Who “snitched” on them to the County Health Department?
I’ll be in Vegas next month. I think I’ll patronize Bilbo’s.
Double standard. For Casinos--- the rule is Casinyes. Like you say, hmmm....
