I said "fool". And it's hardly cussing. People of any age use this word freely. That's why I think translating it as "fool" is much more accurate. Even "stupid" would work better.

Well, they're not really interchangeable here. "You fool" is pretty harmless, but "you ass" sounds a lot more impassioned.
