Immigration reformers don't give up (La Raza: Senate actions "utterly unacceptable")

WASHINGTON — Proponents of immigration reform vowed Friday to resurrect a bill stalled in the Senate, and President Bush urged leaders to continue debate on legislation that would provide permanent status for 12 million undocumented immigrants. "We are not giving up, we are not giving in," said Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., the Democratic architect of the sweeping reform measure.

Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said the Senate now had a road map to proceed, allowing for additional amendments to the bill that would address concerns of individual lawmakers and help push the legislation forward to a final vote. But it remained unknown when the legislation would return to the Senate floor, and the final outcome of the bill is still in doubt.

"I don't think Harry Reid has any intention of bringing this bill back," said Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.

An outcry was also heard from immigration reform advocates. "It is utterly unacceptable for the Senate to fail to address the issue of comprehensive immigration reform," said Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza, the nation's largest Hispanic rights organization.

“I don’t think Harry Reid has any intention of bringing this bill back,” said Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.”

Democrats are taking alot of heat for their failure to bring about a swift end to the Iraq war.

Refusal to bring the bill back will be a small, but delicious, tidbit of revenge against Bush.

La Raza: Senate actions "utterly unacceptable"

Now, in retrospect, it turns out that the bad guys desperately wanted this bill. Sounds like the freepers who dissected the bill correctly concluded that the bill was deeply tilted in favor of the radical left and away from America.

When you defeat a bill that La Raza and Teddy Kennedy both desperately want, you are probably on the right track.

So he's going to use what little political capital that he's got left to jab me in the eye, again.

Thanks for that - I guess that's what I deserve for voting for him twice, and fiercely defending him on the war.

The only reform this immigration mess needs is for the government to round them up in box cars for deportation and to line the NG up along the border with orders to shoot on sight.

Clueless. Acceptable or not, when Congress speaks that is what it is.

Someone with some juice needs to take a look at La Raza. Why are they funded with U.S. taxpayers money and what are they doing with it?

It’s all a ruse. These politicos are determined to ram this legislation down the throat of Americans and won’t quit until they succeed.

Has La Raza threatened to level a few buildings in New York?

That might get the Donkeys and Rinos on the wagon, and get the bill passed.

Don't give up, and don't you think it's your fault for voting for him twice. They way I remember things is that we had a choice between Bush/Gore or Bush/Kerry. Trust me, we made the right choice. LOL! Unfortunately, we learned once again that the lesser of two evils is still evil. You did the right thing, as did most of us on FR. Who knew that he would turn out to be a TOTAL liberal? :o)

We're just going to have to turn up the heat on our Congressmen/women, until they know without a doubt that they will be fired if they support this shamnesty! IF the Mexicans can organize millions to take to the streets to DEMAND more rights, then it seems to me like we can take to the streets to DEMAND NO AMNESTY! It's scary to think that we may really have to do that in OUR OWN COUNTRY!!

"La Raza" = "The Race"

Can you imagine the back lash if there was a White Organization who called themselves "The Race"..?

And what if this white organization had a socialist/communist agenda, like La Raza has?

The National Council of La Raza is a terrorist organization and is a threat to our National Security, IMHO.
