“Both *extremes* have their hand on the dagger that killed it.”

Yeah, it’s “extreme” to not want the sovereignty of one’s Country destroyed — in order to benefit the global elite.

"I guess that the 'New Tone' doesn't apply to the people who voted you in for two terms."

Your guess is correct.

Congress and the president consider themselves our rulers, not our servants.

Destroying America fits their agenda and suits their personal convenience.

We're the only thing that stands in their way and I'm sure most of them are thinking, "If only we could figure a way to get rid of them."

I was contemplating backing the Republican Party in the upcoming election, seeing how this abomination was put down. If Republicans cooperate in putting this up again then let the innocent suffer with the guilty. This issue is as compelling as the issues that led us to the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

In defense of Dick Lamm, he’s been on the right side of the immigration debate for 20 years, to the point where he is universally loathed in some quarters.

It was dead from its own inertia and will only be revived when the immigrants here illegally are sent home first and then allowed in in an orderly fashion as the need permits.

Two simple competing views brought this bill down. First was the support of business groups for the amnesty and guest worker portions of the bill, which would provide them with a continual supply of cheap labor to improve their bottom lines. Second was the goal of union groups in opposing the guest worker portion of the bill which they felt would put downward pressure on wages. Also, under the radar, many union groups and individual members, particularly in the private sector, were opposed to the instant amnesty provisions, for very much the same reasons.

It all came down to the major competing interests of each party, business vs. labor. It should be noted that if the guest worker portions of the bill were eliminated this bill may eventually pass. However, the Pubbies are not likely to let that happen as it would hurt them politically in future elections. Thus, the Pubs. will insist on both tougher enforcement measures and some version of the guest worker program to keep derailing the bill thru the next election and beyond. In the meantime the influx of illegals continues and very little gets done about the overall problem. Again, the politicos in the Senate are only interested in their own personal grandisement and electability the next time around, much to the detriment of their own constituents.

The only good to come out of this fiasco is that the netroots, on both left and right, are getting smarter at disecting these Congressional bills and insist on putting all of them in the light of day for everyone to see, rather than obscuring them in the dark in supposedly complicated parliamentary procedures and back room dealing with special interest groups.

Prepare for another fight and be ready to mobilize on your senators again.

I'm going to start that all over again, first thing in the morning.....and keep it up until they kill this bill for good.

Me, too. And I have added to my message a polite request that they ENFORCE THE CURRENT LAWS. It is pathetic that we have to go ballistic in order urge our own government to enforce its own laws.

Seems to me the majority were not pleased with anything in this bill.

There were no provisions for prosecuting illegal aliens; there were no additional miles authorized for the fence; there were no controls proposed for aggregate national quotas (leaving Mexico with more than half of all possible immigration possibilities for the forseeable future); etc.

What kind of compromise was it that evaded addressing those pressing issues.

They had no idea how fast and with what magnitude the opposition to this trash would materialize.

I think they did. That's why they wanted to pass this bill before posting it on the web or even printing it. Postponing it by a couple days until after Memorial Day allowed the guts of it to be known.

I expect that next time they won't make that "mistake" and that there might be as little as 24 hours between when it is brought up again and the final vote.

Why should we care WHO shot this very bad bill down?

It's important because we need to know who we can deal with the NEXT time this monstrosity rears its ugly head. What if the traitors decide to placate our enemies by giving them most of the things they want, while giving us little of what we want? If guest worker visas were taken off the table completely, and the Republicans who get campaign contributions from agribusiness didn't mind, this thing would have been quite acceptable to the Rats.

I'm hoping that there is a delicate balance here, the stuff that the Rats want out, is the stuff that the whorish RINOs want in, and vice-versa. That's our only hope until we get an enforcement-centered Congress and President in 2009.

Amnesty is step zero in integrating Mexico and Canada to the US. Coming to a Congress near you this Fall,

Acutally its more like step 3 or 4. First we had NAFTA, Then GATT, then the agreement to create at North American free trade zone by 2010. Hell we may already be at step 6 or 7!

Our masters are going to shove the NWO up our a$$e$ whether we like it or not.

Naturally, we're in accord on that.

But there's now something I want far more than the defeat of amnesty.

I want bush's impeachment and removal from office.

I want to give the left what it has long lusted after.

I want bush driven from office in utter disgrace and ruin, for daring to treat his entire base with contempt and selling out the United States of America.

The Dems won't even give us Alberto Gonzales ~ why should we expect them to give us "W"?

Look, they're smart over on the other side ~ and they see through our tricks to get them to do our dirty work.

They'll sit on their hands until the next election.
