Why should we care WHO shot this very bad bill down?
Sometimes, even for the wrong reason, our national legislature still ends up doing the right thing.
These reporters have no clue about what happened. According to them, everything was hunky dory until the two “bad” amendments passed. Brief reference to citizen advocacy, including Feinstein’s moronic remarks. But the reporters missed the point that it was grass roots outrage that brought it down, amendments notwithstanding. I am keeping a list, in a separate file on my computer, of the scoff-laws who voted against the Cornyn amendment. And I am going to deploy it at each election from now til doomsday.
It's important because we need to know who we can deal with the NEXT time this monstrosity rears its ugly head. What if the traitors decide to placate our enemies by giving them most of the things they want, while giving us little of what we want? If guest worker visas were taken off the table completely, and the Republicans who get campaign contributions from agribusiness didn't mind, this thing would have been quite acceptable to the Rats.
I'm hoping that there is a delicate balance here, the stuff that the Rats want out, is the stuff that the whorish RINOs want in, and vice-versa. That's our only hope until we get an enforcement-centered Congress and President in 2009.
