Should Reform Be For Immigrants Or the National Interest?
Real Clear Politics ^ | June 11, 2007 | Peter Brown

The impasse in the Senate over immigration reform generated lots of charges and recriminations, but all sides were reluctant to focus on the most fundamental question about the whole issue:

Should the guiding principle of any legislation be the desire for the most humane policy, in other words one with a bias toward treating immigrants most reasonably? Or, should it be the tilted toward the national interest, that is a proposal perceived to be most beneficial to current U.S. citizens?

How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico

I Like Ike.

The immigration giveaway

Take the Pledge: "I pledge to never, ever vote for anyone, for any office, who votes in favor of the Mexican Invasion Surrender Bill."

National interest FIRST! Why do we keep bending over backward (or forward) for every damn special interest group? The madness is mind boggling.

The proposed change would create a point system which would favor potential immigrants with skills, education and experience in vocations where there are shortages of qualified American workers. Current immigration law gives an edge to those with family members in the United States. If that current bias remains in place, then Mexican, Central and South American applicants will, in general, be better off. They are more likely to have family members already in the United States.

It should be a mix of both, but also requiring those here now ILLEGALLY to go home first and apply - everyone. If they haven't got the "points" to qualify and get back in, too bad.

Amnesty for a pool of low wage workers is not the answer. Higher, market-based, and lawful wages for lawful workers is.

That's a false dichotomy. For one thing, why is it "humane" to let our country turn into yet another Latin American failure? Think the world would be better off??

Also, enforcing our borders and protecting our sovereignty is not just something we do for ourselves ("current citizens"). We want the United States to survive for our children and grandchildren. We owe to our ancestors, and our descendants.

I agree with this former Kentucky State Trooper, who writes:

Excerpt:

Illegal invaders are bankrupting our country costing us billions which will soon be trillions, so do your duty as a citizen and call your representatives every day, or kiss your Social Security and your country, Goodbye.

Elected and appointed officials at all levels of government are guilty of Treason by refusing to obey the Constitution and Laws of the United States relating to invasion resulting in murder, rape, robbery and molestation of thousands of Americans by million of invaders.

Demand that your Senators and Representative in Congress defeat any new law giving illegal invaders anything, end citizenship for children of illegals, enforce existing law and establish a ten year moratorium on all immigration. This would give government time to organize and root out the hundreds of thousands of terrorists and criminals hiding among the millions of illegal invaders who must also be deported on sight.

This Treason has resulted in a continuing invasion that was encouraged, supported, financed and protected by a criminal partnership between business elites and government officials for a share of the blood money. Except for Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck all of our media refuses to report negative information on illegal invaders because they too expect to profit from our poverty.

Many officials at all levels of government do whatever they please regardless of the Constitution and Laws of the United States resulting in wide spread Anarchy, Death and Crime.

I also think this Amnesty Bill is unconstitutional because government does not have the power to legalize unconstitutional actions by government and business.

Where in our Constitution does the Congress or President derive authority to do anything for the benefit of non-citizens. What is best for U.S. citizens should always be the only criteria for their decisions. If they want to make decisions based on concern for citizens of other countries, they should resign their seats and take jobs with the UN.

Of course it should be all about these 12-20 million illegals. They’re the most important and valuable people in the entire USA. They’re so great that we need not only them, but the tens of millions more they will bring in thru family reunification.

Americans want a period of stability. Since NAFTA the US has embarked on a rapid globalist economy where manufacturing jobs are eliminated, followed by off shoring of service jobs and hitech jobs that were auppose to be the alternative jobs of the future for the post manufacturing America. Nontech jobs are slowly taken by illegal immigrants. Yesterday it was harvesting, today it is construction and assembly line, next it would be the higher paying welding, plumbing, electrical and etc. If you work for a paycheck, you are always vulnerable to off shoring or illegal alien replacement. The American worker is not stupid, he can see the handwriting on the wall if nothing is being done to temper immigration and globalization. Add to this mix a judicial and educational system that underminds traditional social values that imposes rights by fiat and not by democratic vote. This rapid train of social and economical changes have not stopped since the 1990’s. The first major political party that understands this sentiment will win the next elections. Unfortunately neither party has it. The Dems want social perversity and illegal immigration, and the GOP wants globalism and illegal immigration. The GOP probably is the closest to the cross party and independent sentiment in this country, but the party must struggle with itself. The Dems understand economical nationalism but cannot shedd themselves of perversity and racist politics. In the meantime the American people are struggling to find a choice and voice in the political process.
