By 2020, at least one in four children in the state will be Hispanic, figures suggest.

The face of Oklahoma's children is changing.

The makeup of the state's young population is changing from mostly white to frequently Hispanic, and if the pace continues, at least a quarter of Oklahoma children by the year 2020 will be Hispanic.

The number of Hispanic youths in Oklahoma has increased by more than 32 percent since 2000, while the population of non-Hispanic youths decreased by 2.6 percent, according to recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

''I see everything changing,'' said Nilda Reyes, director of equity and diversity at Tulsa Public Schools.

The recent Census report showed an obvious increase in the state's Hispanic population overall, about 38 percent. At the same time, the number of non-Hispanic people in Oklahoma increased by just 1.8 percent.

A Tulsa World analysis of the Census figures shows the Hispanic growth is even heavier in the youngest age groups.

Yep, and these numbers have gotten dramatically worse since then, illegally speaking. As bad as the map looks today, it is good news compared to the current-day truth. There's time to act.

I live in NorCal. I work frequently in downtown Oakland, San Leandro etc. I have lived with three illegal immigrant crash pads on my street in the past two years. There is no parking on my street because each house has 6 or 7 trucks. I deal with "XIV" spray painted on the fences and written on the playground equipment at the neighborhood park. My house has been robbed, my car has been broken into. My wife and 15 year old daughter can't go out the front door without being leered at.

I don't need a lecture on what the negative effects of illegal immigration are. I am just trying to make the point that we hurt our cause when we point out race instead of legal status.

I believe that we should put a vise lock on our borders using lethal measures if need be. The next step would be to get a census of who is here. Third, deport anyone with a felony. Last, start the debate on what to do with the remaining illegals.

People fear latin immigration in the same way they have feared Irish immigration and Italian immigration and Chinese immigration and every other large immigrant movement in the past. Chinatowns and Little Italys will always be around, but the immigrant population will assimilate and America will be just as strong as she ever was. To think that (LEGAL) immigration will ruin America is to pay too little attention to her past and to give her too little credit.

BS they don’t! They are just using us like a wet rag. They do not respect our rule of law by being here illegal. See the past immigrates assimilated, and learned the English with customs and tradition.. These law breakers do not respect our country, and demand everything in Spanish. They want it to be Mexico north. Moreover, they drive up health care cost, use our schools and scholarships, and drain the welfare. Oh and lets not forget they do not pay Federal,State, Social Security, or Medicare tax.
