At the challenge of a Pakistani, I took a book home from the library on Pakistan and read it. Although I have studied history all my life, there is no analogue for Pakistan. Those who have trouble with Shia and Sunni would be advised to stear clear of Pakistan. It is very complicated, and the government is weak. They have an army, and that’s about it.

Pakistan is a nuclear power. Iran is not. Pakistan has a proven track record of proliferation, including a dalliance with al Qaeda. It was Pakistani nuclear scientists, after all, who met with bin Laden. Indeed, it was a Pakistani scientist, A. Q. Khan, whose black-market network significantly expanded the reach of nuclear equipment and know-how.

Very important points. But it is not considered polite to mention things like that.
