Do you consider paying a fine for any other misdemeanor offense a consequence? $9000 and 10 years later is not fine enough or payment enough?

When you pay a fine for stealing, you don't get to keep what you stole. You must also pay restitution. The fact that they benefit in the end from their lawbreaking makes this a fee, rather than a fine.

I should have read your post first! You beat me too it.

I don't how people can be missing the issue of restitution. Also, getting fined for a crime does not make a person immune to prosecution if the person commits the crime again.
