You’re right, in part. It’s also “amnesty” because they’ll reap far more reward from their crime than any penalty now being considered.
Imagine someone breaking into your home and stealing $1.1 million dollars in cash, then getting caught as they flee. Then, he gets tried in court and the federal judge says “yes, he’s guilty, so I’m going to fine him $5,000 in cash,” but, he gets to keep the money he stole.
This is basically the same “punishment” as the federal government is proposing to deal with illegal aliens. Each illegal will gain $1.1 million in government services through the average lifetime, and their cost in securing that bucket of taxpayer money is a whopping $5,000.
What a freaking joke!
