Well they are already supposed to be doing it. I have had to bring my birth cert and ss card to apply for jobs. Why not them?

That is one thing I never have understood. Since the 70s, I've been required to show 2 pieces of ID, and one must be a photo ID, for every job I have had. Supposedly, the employer can be fined for not obtaining such information. That has been law for 3 decades -- but apparently for Americans only. Sort of like the new that that requires actual Americans to have a passport to get back into the US, while illegals can sneak across the border and get amnesty.

I know, it boggles the mind. It really does.

It is called and I9 form if I remember correctly. Every employer has to have one on file for each employee showing they are legally residents.

It is simply employers breaking the law.

It is already illegal to hire an illegal.

But the law is not enforced. Particularly under Bush II.

As the federal government increasingly looked the other way illegals coming into this country expanded dramatically.

That is why the incentive has to be stopped at the source - the employer that is willing to break the law and in affect steal from the local community where the illegals come to live. The penalties need to be increased and the accuracy of the checks need to be increased so there’s no excuses. And the bottom line is the law must be enforced.
