FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- The e-mail from Iraq started this way:

"So, a friend in my battalion received a Fender Stratocaster from you guys. It was amazing! . . . It's been about 6 months since I have played and it was so awesome playing the guitar my friend got. He told me about you guys, so I thought I would see if maybe I can get my own guitar."

What a great thing this guy is doing. I know there are a lot of musically inclined Freepers who might be able to help out.

Anything to make the troops more comfortable and help them get through their mission is good. Thank you sir for doing your part. God bless you and your family.

And thank you for your Vietnam service too.

Steve Baker Rocks!

Thankyou for your service in Vietnam, and for what you are doing for the Troops, Steve!

Anyone know how to get donations to Steve, to help offset his costs?

Not to denigrate what this guy is doing (which is great), where the h3ll are the army bands? As a former military musician myself, I know they exist, and do get deployed just like the rest of the army. Providing morale music to the troops is their primary mission.
