PARIS - A senior U.S. diplomat accused Iran on Tuesday of transferring weapons to Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan the most direct comments yet on the issue by a ranking American official.
Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns, speaking to reporters in Paris, said Iran was funding insurrections across the Middle East and "Iran is now even transferring arms to the Taliban in Afghanistan."

I know you’ve heard Karzai praising his friendship with Iran for the last two weeks. Check NYNewsday on the fifth.
Have fun:

Another quote from Undersecretary Burns: Its a country thats trying to flex its muscles, but in a way thats injurious to the interests of just about everybody else in the world, he said. I think its a major miscalculation.
I pinged you on that for a reason. It really pisses me off that this Ammnesty bill is being timed with other things.
Why don’t we send arms to Iran? Fight fire with fire.

Iranian trained and armed militants have had the same success as the ones trained in Pakistan. They end up as cordwood!!
Syria (with Hezbullah) and Israel are heading for a war this summer (July or August). When Syria and Israel are at war, we will be at war with Iran.
IMO, SolidWood is correct. I wish it were a diversion. The timing is throwing salt on the wound. Not cool. Of course this is exactly how I would have recommended he proceed from a strategic standpoint, but being a Patriot, it makes me quite sick.

Of course they are miscalculating. They have never had to pay a price for their actions. For over 30 years now they’ve been taking pot shots, or worse, at us and our response have never been anything more than mild responses. They are under the impression, and it might be a correct one, that there is practically nothing they can do, up to and including acts of piracy against Great Britain, that will result in anything more painful or expensive than looking good in the eyes of our enemies around the world.
I wish I knew what’s going on. How have we come to this point, the point that we can’t or won’t respond to anything they do?
My thoughts exactly.
Few rational people would doubt this.
Yet how many of the Am. Left deny that Saddam was likewise helping out terrorists?
It is, in fact, a mental disorder.
“I wish I knew whats going on. How have we come to this point, the point that we cant or wont respond to anything they do?”
That’s right where you want the general public, just before you finally strike.

I'm tired.
