Croatia: Mass grave exhumation (Serbian civilians, 20+ women)

12 June 2007

BELGRADE -- During a seven-day exhumation, the remains of 105 victims, believed to be Serbs, were uncovered in the Croatian town of Petrinja.

At least 20 women are among the victims, according to sources.

Serbian Documentation and Information Centre Veritas stated that the remains were all of Serbs from Banija and Kordun, killed by Croatian forces in a 1995 offensive in a UN-protected zone.

The exhumation, conducted by the Croatian government, will be continued.

The Hague Tribunal officials monitored the digging, as well as those from the International Missing Persons Commission, and Serbian and Croatian Missing Persons organizations.

Although the large mass grave in question was located in late 1995, the investigation took place "in complete media silence which, without question, is directly tied to the nationality of the victims,” Veritas stated.

According to the NGO, there are more graves of Serbs killed during Operation Storm at the same location.

The exhumation of these graves was still “awaiting the right political climate,” Veritas representatives said.

During the attack of Croatian forces on the UN Sector North sector in 1995, 721 Serbs were killed, 441 civilians, 403 of which were women.

Of the victims, 531 are still listed as missing, 341 civilians, 185 of which are women.

There have been no indictments thus far by international or Croatian courts related to the war crimes committed against Serbs in Croatia.

The Croats really killed a high percentage of women.

The media has been covering up the mass graves and crimes against Serb civilians for a dozen years. They go out of their way not to report it. Of course there are many many more dead Serb civilians who will never get any news coverage. This is only the tip of the iceberg.

This was in Croatia, but Kosovo Muslim generals such as Ceku and Ademi, were involved in these kills of ethnic Serbs.

It's very simple to know the U.S. side - it is always on the side of those who kill and ethnically cleanse Serbs while simultaneously claiming the Serbs are genociding them. But census records show it's the Serb population which took the greatest hit.

The best thing we could have done is let the Serbs clean house and all the Euroweenies twist in the wind, which is about all they are good for today.

You're probably being sarcastic...sadly, I have difficulty recalling who we deemed "the good guys" back then. I think we sided with the Muslim Bosnians and Kosuvars, correct?

As an aside, during the conflict I worked as a volunteer for Refugee Services, a Catholic non-prof. I was assigned to work with Bosnian families. The wives were nice, the kids were cute, and the husbands--without any exception--were the most chilling bunch of SOBs I've ever had to deal with. All former Bosnian military and creepy. Rasputin creepy.

How did you know they were military - did you get their records, or did they tell you - brag even?

Did any say where they were from or where they fought?

If you would have acted non-judgemental and put on an act of hating Serbs, they might have told you the details of any atrocities they committed against Serbs (or even Croats).

The Bosnian Muslims were known for beating Serbs they'd jailed, night and day, and with bats, furniture, electrical cords, and so on.

Did they all look strong and muscular?

Well, basically, in the early 90s Serbia was using the inherited remnants of the Yugoslav Army and Air Force to stomp on its neighbours and prevent them from being independent; the UN recognized this and authorized NATO to take action to stop it, after Serbia refused to obey the UN resolutions and the killings continued. THAT's why we were there.

You may also notice that, once again, Serbia chose to side with Russia, not NATO or the West; in fact Serbia tried to shoot down American boys in the 90s - remember that US pilot who had to hide on the hillside while the Serbs tried to track him down with dogs?

How many of them would you estimate you worked with - are you talking a few or several dozens? Even if they committed war atrocities - such as torture, rape and murder, they aren't considered criminals by the U.S. if their victims were Serbs. But Serbs who tried to defend themselves against their raids - simple village guards - are deported from the U.S. for being any kind of member of the Bosnian Serb forces.

They even deported a female cook for the Bosnian Army for "not disclosing military service"!

Then a month later, Sulejman Talovic, a Bosnian Muslim opened fire on a Utah shopping mall.

Gee, aren't we glad our government kept us safe by deporting a Serb cook, while they let that Bosnian Muslim lunatic roam free!

The easy version is that we were always "against Serbs", so whoever was fighting Serbs, we took their side.

You'd think it was because the Serbs were some sort of "long-standing US enemy", but the opposite was true -- Serbs were our Allies through two World Wars and saved over 500 American flyers from behind enemy lines during WWII.

Serbs have been in the US for 150 years with no problems and have distinguished themselves in business, science, government, the arts and even in the US military where they have more US Medal of Honor Winners per capita than any other ethnic group.

But it's like we in the US have gone completely nuts. We love our enemies and hate our friends; we love our illegals and hate our citizens; we love Muslims and hate Christians; and we think wrong is right and right is wrong.

Beam me up Scotty!

One of the wives showed me a picture album one day. Just a typical picture album you'd find sitting around anyone's apartment, right? On the same page as a picture of friends celebrating a birthday at a nightclub and someone's school wallet shot, there's a picture of her husband in his combat fatigues, posing outside of what looked like a restaurant. There were other soldiers in the shot, one of whom was also assigned to live in Lansing through Refugee Services. All the men in the shot were casually holding rifles. There were pics like that every few pages---very jarring, that's the only way to describe it. (Justin Verlander just pitched a no-hitter for Detroit--GO TIGERS!) The wife (I just cannot remember her name right now) was explaining a lot of the pics to me in very broken English. When she first showed me her husband in the fatigues, I asked her "Army?" She said no, and tried to describe in what capacity he served--she could have meant military, she could have meant militia, I never figured it out.

She was a really sweet lady, a very good mom. They had two kids, Benjamin and Selena. The husband was named Suleman, but I can't recall their last name.

I was only supposed to be assigned to one family, as an "American friend." Teach them how to use the buses, teach them how to shop at Wal-Mart, help them out at the bank--they had no idea of how to live in America. Because of the language difference (I speak no Bosnian, they spoke almost no English) I was to work only with them, not two or three families like other volunteers. Didn't work out that way. Refugee Services would place all incomers of like nationality in housing in the same apartment complex. I'd stop by once or twice a week to do something with my assigned family and ten minutes into the visit all the refugees would come over needing assistance of some kind. It turns out that none of the other volunteers lasted very long with the Bosnians.

It's hard to say what I found most creepy about the men, probably a combination of things...I'm a hot-blooded Sicilian broad (my dad's words, seriously) and I don't take kindly to any man treating me or any other woman like chattel...just that incredibly snotty attitude with the menacing undertone that I've come to know and loathe about so many Muslim men I've met. I was very careful not to speak about my religion, but showed interest when they celebrated their holidays and made sure they knew how to get to the closest mosque. I never brought up the topic of the conflict--they would, occasionally. The wife would, I mean (sheesh, I wish I could remember her name!). Suleman pretended he spoke no English during my visits, unless he had to ask me something--then he spoke English just fine. Much better than his wife.

I remember her telling me once--this was the day she showed me the photo album, in fact--that Yugoslavia was a great place to live when Ceocescu was in charge, that she had Serb friends and Croat friends and they all lived together and nobody fought. She kept saying "Very hard, very hard, but all together." I think what she was trying to say was that things were awful for all Slav citizens so they had that in common.

I toughed out that particular volunteering gig for just over two years, and that was some kind of local record. My assigned family moved to Louisiana--I think a town called Linden. The wife called me just once after they moved, to tell me how much she hated the South. She sounded beyond miserable.

When the Bosnian war broke out, my husband's then nearly 80 yr-old father had his cousin's daughter visiting from Sarajevo, along with her husband. The two decided to stay in the US and moved in with husband's dad.

Initially, this was not such a bad arrangement, as my husband's father didn't want to leave his home and the woman helped with the cooking & cleaning in lieu of room & board for her & her husband.

But then, Catholic Charities brought over her husband's son (by his first marraige) and his pregnant Muslim wife and child. The cousin & her husband moved out (bought a house with $$$ from who knows where) and left the son, his wife and kids at my husband's Dad's house, without ever telling or asking us whether it was OK.

The next thing you know, my father-in-law's bank account is cleaned out (not that there was much, but $10K isn't lunch money either), then the son takes over my father-in-law's car -- and before you know it, this guy is trying to talk my father in law into changing his will and leaving his house to him!

Then, Catholic Charities helps bring over his sister and her husband to stay with them! I am sitting at the table listening to the sister talk about how she and her husband lied about being "refugees" -- they owned two homes, one in Croatia and one in Bosnia and they were treating this whole "trip to America" like a free vacation!

Long story short, the sister and her husband eventually return to Bosnia after a few months. The guy and his Muslim wife eventually return to Bosnia -- but not until after they collected welfare for the time limit, they had "an anchor baby" in the US (so they could return to the US at will )-- and they stuck Catholic Charities for a $2K loan. When they left, my husband took out literally 12 pick-up trucks full of dirty disposable diapers from the place! These people were complete pigs!

I am sure that Catholic Charities had their heart in the right place, but I kept looking at these people, thinking I wouldn’t give them bus fare and what in the heck are you doing for them, other than giving them a free ride?
