California Respiratory Therapist Admits Molesting Young, Brain-Damaged Patients

SAN DIEGO — A former respiratory therapist pleaded guilty Tuesday to molesting young, brain-damaged patients at the hospital where he worked for 25 years.

Wayne Albert Bleyle, 55, admitted to eight counts of forcible lewd acts upon a child and four counts of exhibiting a minor in pornography.

Under a plea agreement, Bleyle would serve 45 years and eight months in prison. With credit for good behavior, he would serve at least 85 percent of that sentence.

Bleyle, who worked at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, answered procedural questions in a firm, quiet voice.

Superior Court Judge Kenneth So denied bail and scheduled sentencing for July 25.

Bleyle was arrested in March 2006 after authorities traced child porn Internet traffic to his home computer in suburban Santee. Prosecutor Laura Gunn told a judge then that Bleyle targeted children who were "the most brain-damaged, most comatose, most nonverbal — children who could never say anything about it."

Bleyle confessed to federal agents that he molested "countless" disabled patients, the prosecutor told the court last year.

Freak. Being in California, you've got to worry about the Ninth overturning this conviction on some stupid technicality.

Since the sex of the victims is not mentioned, I assume homosexual attacks.

I would think that in California this type of person would be lauded for exploring his sexuality instead of being sent to prison.

I don’t give a damn if he answered the questions in a firm, quiet voice or a loud boisterous voice. He should be put away for the rest of his life with no parole. He molested children who could not help themselves. What in thee hell is wrong with our justice system anymore????????????????

Just because someone has a job working with children that should never exempt them from our continual suspicion they may be pedophiles.

He'll do 85% of his 45 year sentence and possibly get out at age 93. Of course, I'd be just as happy if they executed him.

I was going to say something like that, but you got there first.

Well, I’d prefer to see him executed too. His crime is terrible preying on children who are already in a bad way. He is low life, scum of the earth and shouldn’t be breating the same air we all do. I could care less about him. But...it’s CA we’re talking about here.

I am pro-death penalty, but in the case of child molesters, I don’t mind seeing them sent to jail for decades instead. What with the way child molesters are supposedly treated in jail, this dude will be wishing he were scheduled for execution!

adding a link to the local SD story on this monster, and an excerpt..

http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20070612-1330-bn12bleyle2.html

>>Under the terms of a plea agreement approved Tuesday by San Diego Superior Court Judge Kenneth So, Bleyle will be sentenced to prison for 45 years and eight months at a July 25 hearing. The judge said Bleyle must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he’s eligible for parole.

“This is an outcome that I think is satisfactory,” Gunn said, because it will spare one of Bleyle’s 13-year-old victims from testifying in a public trial.

The girl is the only one of Bleyle’s victims prosecutors have identified who could testify because none of the others who are still alive can talk, Gunn said. She said Bleyle deliberately targeted children who were so disabled that they couldn’t tell anyone what he did. <<

“One of the agents who interviewed him said, ‘How many kids are we talking about?’” Gunn said. “The defendant, who was in New York at the time looking out at the snow, looked out at the snow and said, ‘How many snowflakes are there out there?’”

Why is this guy breathing air?

Good grief, and there’s others on another thread arguing about whether the death penalty should apply to child rapists and sexual abusers. He admitted it, there’s likely to be evidence. Eliminate him in any appropriate way.

He doesn’t deserve prison, he deserves a firing squad, but since he won’t get that in CA, prison will do.

Over and over I've read things like this and repeatedly find myself wishing for some vigilante to see justice done.

As long as this piece of fetid pile of filth draws breath, there is no justice.
