BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan Afghan Highway Police and Coalition forces patrolling near the village of Khenjakak received rocket propelled grenade and machine gun fire from an unknown number of enemy fighters in the Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province on June 11.
The combined force returned fire then maneuvered to gain the tactical advantage over the enemy. Enemy forces retreated after several of their fighters were killed in the brief firefight.
Five hours later, over thirty enemy attackers attempted to ambush the same combined Afghan and Coalition patrol with RPG and machine gun fire near the village. The patrol returned fire, maneuvered out of the ambush site, isolated the attackers and then requested close air support to destroy one enemy compound and one enemy vehicle.
During the eight-hour battle, over two dozen enemy fighters were killed.
One AHP officer was wounded during the battle and medically evacuated to a nearby treatment facility in Tarin Kowt. He is listed in stable condition.
There were no Afghan civilian injuries reported.
Afghan Highway Police and Coalition forces will continue to purse and defeat all enemy fighters who threaten the government of Afghanistan, said Army Maj. Chris Belcher, a Coalition spokesperson. With the support and resolve of the Afghan people, enemy fighters will not derail the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Spring Ping;)
Spring turning to summer bump!
So what do you think, the GOP gonna come to it’s senses and nominate Hunter?
Well first it was Rudymania, then Romneymania (so handsome during the debates all the girls just swooned), now it’s fredmania.
The trick is getting Hunter into the top tier. Once there, things will take care of themselves. Uphill battle to be sure.
I voted for Republicans for 27 years because I thought that was best for America.
I've always put America first.
Guess something always happens to split a Party name;)
I will have no qualms about leaving a Party name, hell,if Lincoln could do it,if Reagan could go it,I can too,and I will.
Yeah, baby!
"If at first you don't succeed, die, die again."
Well, it started out as a "WAr News" thread - and quickly got turned into a political thread - very disconcerting to think the FR's would, in essence, thumb their noses at what's happening to our troops over there, with bullets flying at them - to get in some more candidate chatter...
