And right here at the beginning of hurricane season, too.

Can you belive the chutzpah? She's gonna hate it when Paul Shanklin gets a hold of this.

Let's see, what would some good songs be to rip off for her situation.....

Do we really need much more evidence that democrats are the new Stalinists?

What purpose does PBS serve that makes it necessary for the taxpayer to support it?

None whatsoever--unless you happen to be a socialist, and like having the government fund your propaganda.

Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want the county to be linked to a station "that’s out of step with area politics,”

Not according to the ratings.

Perhaps it's Ritter who is just plain lying.

Umm, shouldn't that be a jackass on a blue flag and armband - to make your point?

Oooo. My bad! I didn't see the elephant until too late.

These days, though, there's little difference.

Thanks for the address. I sent this...

Ms. Ritter,

Would it not be advantageous to the your public at large that emergency broadcasts be aired to the largest possible audience? If political sensibilities are to be weighed in giving particular stations the responsibility of broadcasting emergency alerts and information, why not also contract with a local liberal station(s) or Air America (if their still around)? That way, you fulfill your duty of putting the citizen’s safety and well-being first and fulfill your personal political agenda of furthering your ideals. Look at it this way: 70% coverage with Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, the remaining 30% spread around the other station(s). With the added benefit of not being accused of censorship. Of course, to cancel contract with the station in question only proves Rush right when he avers that in the marketplace of ideas, no one is buying what you are selling.

On a final note, Hugo Chavez in Venezuela canceled now and forever the government contract (license) with an unabashed oppositional television station. With a little more power, you could the same. Isn’t it just a pity that you and yours have only a fraction of the power he does? I imagine you drooling at the thought, for after-all, your actions are but a paler shade...

...of green.

Sincerely,

Well. I guess our city will be next. We are 88% straight-ticket voter Democrats in this place. We have two talk-radio stations and Rush is King.

"They have every right to speak, but we don’t have to do business with them,” she said.

It's one thing for station management to make such a statement. It is quite another for a GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL to say the same.

They aren’t suppressing free speech

Sure they are. They're saying government information and money can't be broadcast on the largest station in the area because of it's political commentary.

Iwasn’t quite so polite...

It is beyond comprehension that you would put you Fascist agenda ahead of the safety of the citizens of Broward County.

Well, you have clearly showed your true colors, and now the whole world knows that Fascism is alive and well in Florida. May God help the people of Broward County.

Perhaps you could go a step further, so that when a real disaster occurs, you could demand proof of Democrat Party membership before rendering any assistance to anyone. Perhaps make all Republicans display a sign on their homes or wear a red cloth patch on their clothing?

That like-thinking, fellow National Socialist, Adolf Hitler, would have been proud of you.
