Canada intervenes for Guantánamo captive
Miami Herald ^ | Jun. 14, 2007 | ROB GILLIES

Canada's foreign minister said Wednesday he has asked his American counterpart, Condoleezza Rice, to ensure that a 20-year-old Canadian captive at Guantánamo Bay be granted better access to his family, legal counsel and educational materials.

Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay said he contacted Rice last week about the case of Omar Khadr, who has been in U.S. custody since he was 15 and is accused by the U.S. government of being a terrorist.

''I asked specifically about his well-being and for a medical and psychological assessment to be done,'' MacKay said. ``We're going to continue to provide consular access as we do in the case of all Canadians.''

Khadr was accused of tossing a grenade that killed one U.S. soldier and injured another in Afghanistan in July 2002.

A U.S. military judge last week dismissed the charges against Khadr on a technicality, but he has remained in custody, and the U.S. government is asking the judge to reconsider the decision.

Khadr has received little sympathy in Canada, where his family has been called the ``first family of terrorism.''

Khadr is the son of an alleged al Qaeda financier. In a documentary by Canadian Broadcasting Corp., one of Khadr's brothers, Abdurahman Khadr, acknowledged that their Egyptian-born father, Ahmed Said Khadr, and some of his brothers fought for al Qaeda and had stayed with Osama bin Laden.

One brother, Abdullah Khadr, is being held in Canada on a U.S. extradition warrant, accused of supplying weapons to al Qaeda.

The elder Khadr was killed in Pakistan in 2003 when a Pakistani military helicopter shelled the house where he was staying with some senior al Qaeda operatives.

One has to wonder how many of these youthful timebombs are hidden in Canada....or the US for that matter.

As you read the article the whole damned family (or what's left of them) are nothing but terrorists.

Omar Kfadar. Thats a strange sounding Canadian name.

Old dad was killed while he was with Al Qaeda
His Bro is held in Canada because the US ays he was sending weapons.
Another says some of his brothers. (How many of these reptiles exist) are working with Bin Laden.

AND CANADA WANTS THIS GUY FREE SO HE CAN COME HOME TO CANADA AND REJOIN HIS BROTHERS IN THE ENABLING OF AL QAEDA IN THE WAR OF TERRORISTS.

Somebody up ther is totally insane.
If they were smart they would be locking up the rest of the family and sending them down to Cuba to set in the next cell. Does Canada have a death wish?

Way to go, McKay!! Keep on sucking up to terrorists at the expense of America and canada, while negotiating wildly for a sweet money deal for the maritimes at the expense of the rest of canada. Belinda gave you just what you deserved - and plenty of it and in public.

I sincerely hope they have a death wish. Because with their unblievable coddling of and importing of terrorists, they are going to get theirs. So when them a-rabs pop one down the peace tower, don’t feel too sorry for them.

Does Canada have a death wish?

Politicians remind me of the movie 'The Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.'

They are mind-numbed robot-like creatures capable of only processing one thought: pass mindless legislation to drive the normal citizenry nuts. When we slump to the floor in fustrated exhaustion, they take over our bodies.

Don’t be misled.

Mackay asked for him to have access to his family and educational materials. He didn’t ask for him to be released, set free or returned to Canada. Even he knows we don’t want him back.

“A U.S. military judge last week dismissed the charges against Khadr on a technicality...”

Is Canada the problem?...is Peter Mckay the problem???

No, read above post in quotes...

If your damn politically correct retards up there would do their jobs, we wouldn’t be worrying one bit how that fricken terrorist was rotting in jail...he should have been shot a long time ago if you asked me.

The Khadr family ought to be massacred—that’s right, every GODDAMNED one of them.
