Hope in the great story isn't lost!

Check out what I lifted from another site:

Did you know?
Paul first sang opera at the age of 28 for a karaoke competition-- he dressed up as Pavarotti.
He went on to perform in Barrymore's 'My Kind Of Music' (1999). The money he won from the show (£8000) along with his savings was spent on attending various training courses in Italy.

It looks like he is the real self-made deal.

I’ve never seen Sarah Brightman mention on FR before.
I have a number of her CDs. The purely classical I don’t care for so much. But her CD “Fly” is terrific. My favorite cut is ‘Tell me lies.’

( I mean I can’t hit some of the high notes — but a croak is better than no notes at all )

The sounds you hear is the police breaking down your door cause your neighbors think someone is getting murdered in your house...

Thanks for the clip. I remember the first time I heard Con Te Partiro, six years ago — it was at the dancing fountains outside of the Bellagio in Vegas. Those who know what I am talking about - it was a sight to behold ! My first trip to the Bellagio, first time I saw the show and the first time I heard the song. One of my most incredible experiences.

I have the Sarah Brightman/ Andrea Bocelli duet of Con te partiro. She is a great singer in her own right.

Dear randita,

LOL! Someone else pinged me to another article on this fellow.

Oh well. In for a dime, in for a dollar.

Another Classical Music Ping List ping on this fellow, Paul Potts!

If you want on or off this list, let me know via FR e-mail.

Thanks,

sitetest

I’ve never seen Sarah Brightman mention(ed) on FR before.

Why , you think FReepers fit the stereotypical view the left has of us ? The FReeper on an average, is smarter, more informed, better educated and more sophisticated than the average hate filled liberal.

( I know you didn't mean that , but I am just saying)

And Sarah Brightman’s talented husband is the famous Andrew Lloyd Webber. What a couple!

I had never heard of her 18 months ago when my TIVO picked up what was supposed to be a show about older TV personalities. Instead it was the Sarah Brightman Las Vegas production. I still have it on disc. She knocked the audience out and started me down the road of being one of her biggest fans.

Sarah has the technical control that Nana Mouskouri has plus the soul that Nana’s music lacks. Sarah is the best singer in the English speaking world, IMO.

OMG! I love that aria. I can sing opera, but I am a baritone and that is definitely above my range, I know, I’ve tried to sing it.

Excellent - worth watching just for the audience reaction and the look of surprise and disappointment on Cowell’s face because he wasn’t going to be able to savage the guy......

So Polpot is more trained musician, less phone salesman.

As someone said earlier, does the fact that you've taken guitar lessons make you a professional musician were you to appear on this show? Most people who play musical instruments or sing have been trained at some point have they not?
