No doubt . He’s a beltway insider and you will see the same crowd who is pushing for McPain, move to Thomspon after McPain completely implodes . Is Thompson the ultimate trojan horse ?

When was he EVER an effective leader ? We were waiting from day #1 to see when he’d step up to the plate, and we were STILL waiting the day he left office. I’ve known him 13 years, and he’ll say whatever it takes to win. Just like the Democrats and the RINOs.

Thompson isn’t the ultimate Conservative that his supporters are claiming he is .

Of the current crop of political midgets, he is. But at least he can actually claim with a straight face to be a Conservative, unlike the rest of Rudy McRomney. His voting record proves it. :-)

"I know pro-abort folks who have large families"

I don't. As a once married, never divorced father of five, grandfather of ten, Mitt has lived solid conservative family values and governed as a pro-life conservative, regardless of his public proclamations, during the first three years of his governorship.

If he lied, show me the evidence. As for his story being "contrived", the whole presidential election is "contrived"! Mitt isn't the first. He won't be the last. George Washington cut down a cherry tree and never told a lie. William Henry Harrison was supposed to have grown up in a log cabin but actually lived in riches (a la Al Gore). I'm not concerned about the politics of it, because you can't govern if you can't play the game (see Tancredo, Gilmore, etc.)

Mitt's actions speak louder than words, though. He promised to keep abortion safe and legal in Massachusetts and he did not attempt to restrict abortions. However, when bills came before him that would increase availability of abortion, Governor Romney vetoed those bills...and don't bring up that the Romney medical plan provided for taxpayer abortions, because that is a fantasy! Mitt has kept promises as Governor and has been strongly on the side of life. As for the stem cell issue, at least Governor Romney is knowledgable about the issue and opposes government funded stem cell research when the embryos are created for the SOLE purpose of destroying them.

At least Mitt has governed in a liberal state. That is valuable experience in my book. Believe it or not, this country is moving in the liberal direction. We need someone like Mitt who can articulate conservative positions in a way that will get independents to listen.

Not. The fact of the matter is that none of the top tier, including Thompson, is going to be the Conservative that we are craving. We just have to decide which one we are going to settle for .

Now you're just lying. Pathetic. Gonna tell me Clintoon's Conservative, too ?

YES! He is the beltway’s next choice after McPain’s self inflicted implosion. The Establishment will move over to Thompson after McPain fades. There's something about the Senate that screams "We know better than you". Thompson is a part of that crowd. He was lobbyist forever! These people want the status quo. Mitt is an outside the box thinker.

"He promised to keep abortion safe and legal in Massachusetts and he did not attempt to restrict abortions."

You'd better coordinate your propagandizing with your friends. They're contradicting you.

I got a craving for Fred. He’s the non-phony of the top tier.

The judges Romney appointed overheard criminal law. They did not set jurisprudence, and nor did they interpret it. These judges were appointed because they had a record of being hard on crime. This has been pointed out time and time again, but some people just don’t seem to care.

More like “outside the box con-man.” Some of us have known him a LONG time, Hoss. Anything to get elected. Power-chasing political whores like that are scary.

Mitt took an oath to honor the constitution. When the Supremes invoked their ruling as a core concept with the Mass. constitution, Mitt could not go contrary to that.

Of course he could, since their ruling was completely lawless, in the literal sense. But he doesn't have that kind of courage. He's just another one of the judicial supremacists whose crass selfishness is slowly but surely tearing down our country brick by brick.

What do you think the Adamses would have thought of Mitt Romney's immoral liberalism and complete lack of moral courage?

Exactly. I entertained the idea of Thompson and realised that he is closer to McPain than any other candidate. After this immigration debacle , i’m ready for any candidate that hasn’t been inside the beltway yukking it up with Ted Kennedy, Juan McPain, and the Senate culture in general for the past 10 years .

So you chose the unprincipled RINO candidate who comes from the state that has sent John Kerry to the Senate for the past 23 years and Ted Kennedy for the past 45 years. Brilliant.

If he lied, show me the evidence.

Already have. Romney still supports the destruction of human embryos, and thinks that if MA or CA or NY or any state wants to kill their babies, that's okay by him.

He's simply NOT pro-life.

Believe it or not, this country is moving in the liberal direction.

Baloney.

In a state where the legislature is 15% Republican and the electorate is 30% Republican, Mitt was able to curtail many of the Liberal policies in Mass. In Washington where the party numbers in the house and Senate are far more proportionate, and where the Federal laws are less Liberal, his leadership will be even more effective.

He ran for Senate in 1994, and won the governorship in 2002. IN my book that adds up to five, possibly six years. How is it you've known him for 13?

Some of your fellow conservatives from the state of Mass. right here on this board, disagree with your assessment. How can that be?

I think we are in for the same disappointments regarding Fred that we have had with the rest of the top tier candidates. They all have flaws and we will have to settle on one of them or abstain from voting .

Gonna tell me Clintoon's Conservative, too ? Clinton wasn't conservative. He wasn't liberal. He was Clintonal. He cared about getting elected. He listened to the American people and American's liked him for it. He was the butt of jokes for his sexual escapades, but he did the following: Free Trade Welfare Reform Growth Economy Low Interest Rates Balanced Budget Kosovo and Serbia Even Bush doesn't have HALF the conservative record that Clinton achieved, despite the intern problem.
