D Cards Of 2 Missing Soldiers Found In Iraq Identification Discovered In Al Qaeda Safe House
(AP) BAGHDAD The identification cards of two American soldiers missing since an attack on their unit in May were found in an al Qaeda safe house north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said Saturday.
Separtely in Basra, an explosion leveled a Sunni mosque, residents said, in the second retaliatory attack in as many days for the toppling of minarets at a prized Shiite shrine in Samarra.
Iraqi police did not immediately respond to the bombing of the al-Ashrah al-Mubashra mosque, witnesses said, raising fears that the city's Shiite-dominated security forces were unwilling to stop sectarian attacks on Sunni landmarks.
The cards for Spc. Alex R. Jimenez and Pvt. Byron Fouty were discovered along with computers, video production equipment, rifles and ammunition at the otherwise empty house near Samarra, 60 miles north of Baghdad.
The two were snatched in a raid on their 10th Mountain Division unit more than a month ago near Youssifiyah, 12 miles south of Baghdad. The body of a third soldier who was taken in the raid, Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr., was found floating in the Euphrates River.

Prayers that they will be found alive. I never lose hope. Still praying for Matt and Scott as well.
Now they’re blowing up each other’s Mosques at will and the police let groups of their own tribes just get away with it. That place is coming totally unhinged.
There are not enough soldiers and ammunition in the entire US Army and Marine Corps to kill off all these people.
You hope for the best but expect the worse. Given their history of fair and equitable treatment I think the stark reality of it is they are dead and have been for a while.
I can never forget Maupin. His name was drilled into our minds at Basic.
His POW bracelet is on my wrist anytime I put on jewelry. Even if it doesn’t go with my outfit.
So the al-Qaeda safe house is not quite so safe for al-Qaeda any more....
Time to dynamite it to rubble.
Then they shall HAVE to retreat to mosques.
Which then become legitimate military targets.
I know you’ve been there, but are you there right now? I’m just curious how you are getting your information right now — it seems like you are only reading the MSM — I have seen LOTS of good news stories here on FR — I guess maybe you’re a glass half empty type and I’m a glass half full.
Do you know of a good place to get POW/MIA bracelets on the internet that accepts something other than Paypal? I don’t trust Paypal, so it limits my options.
Amen to that.
I believe I got mine here:

They take Mastercard, Visa AND Paypal. :-)
I stay in touch via email with several buddies that are still over there. I get maybe 3 or 4 emails a week from them. I also stay in touch via email with two of my former Iraqi interpreters, Naz Shreef and Ahmed Misael. I don’t rely on the what is being put out in the MSM, they are full of shit. I rely on what my buddies and Iraqi friends tell me and they both tell me that this place is becoming unmanageable.
I read the other day that they are pleased and surprised at the lack of violence over the mosque bombing, not as much as they expected.
This was from a BBC reporter.
Prayers for these two brave warriors.
You can thank our traitors in the democrat party for that.
They did more for Al Qaeda’s growth than even Al Qaeda did.
Ok - I was just curious. And I am NOT slamming on you - so please take this in the way I am saying it which is an honest question - could it be that the scope of their knowledge then, is limited only to the area in which they are currently serving? I’m thinking back to Fallujah, when it was so completely out of control. Certainly the Marines who were there would have had the thought that Iraq was completely “unmanageable” and that there may never come a success. But Soldiers and Marines in other parts of Iraq had a different viewpoint and different thoughts.
Thank you. Got my order done and everything. Eager to get it, and maybe I’ll get another one too.
There has to come a time when we have to turn their country back over to them. I was once very optimistic that this would work. But there is so much divisiveness and corruption in that culture that I am now doubtful it will ever happen. When police stand by and let members of their tribes blow up other tribes Mosques, something once thought to be out of bounds, something is very wrong. When Al Qaeda has infiltrated the Iraqi Army and the police and are soldiers or cops by day and terrorists by night, something is very wrong.
The only solution I feel is to have three Iraqs. Shia, Sunni and Kurd. A doubt a unified democratic Iraq will ever happen.
Just hope our two fallen heroes’ bodies are recovered.
