Come to think of it, I registered as an Independent when I went to vote after moving back to Alaska. I’ve always felt uncomfortable about calling myself a “Republican.” Looks like the “Suspicions Confirmed Dep’t” has finally become a reality.

The Republican party has squandered their entire time as the majority because they acted as a minorty.

The first time in 5 years that I can remember them having any sort of backbone - is on the earmarks. That will be short lived in the minds of the voters.

Unless and until they gather enough “courage” to come up with an agenda that is comparable to the conservative agenda that Newt Gingrich spearheaded and unite in front of every camera, in every newspaper and in every town hall - they will not only continue to lose elections but will deserve to lose.

Most people in the US are Pro-life, Pro-military, Pro-religion and pro-family and anti-illegal aliens. But day in and day out they hear the opposite from the liberals on TV, radio and in the newspaper and only silence from the Republicans. This leaves people wondering if their silence is because they feel guilty or don’t care about those issues.

in 1994 - when the Republicans began talking about all those issues, they were winning. We now know what the Democrats are against but we don’t know what the Republicans are for or against.

Jorge Bush is not going to unite them so they need to become independent and start thinking for themselves and quit waiting for him to take the lead.

"You must be in Maine. I live in Downeast and that is the only place I have ever heard “dooryard”. I asked a guy what it meant and he said that you open the door and there is the yard. Dooryard."

when we lived in MN, we had geese. If you've ever heard the term "loose as a goose," you'll know what I'm talking about. They LOVED to poop on the doorstep. So we fenced in the dooryard and gave the rest of the farm to the geese. Dooryard. :oD

Thank you for sharing. I liked your response. I especially like your first sentence, kept it and enlarged it. As for me I felt I should give them both barrels ... and then reload. And I did. Thinking about sending another email off to my Senators, I've lost count pretty much emailing them daily. Calling every couple of days. Maybe use this as a basis and personalize it for each Senator. Thanks again.

Sir, The attacks on the conservatives in this country by President Bush, Senators Graham, McCain and other Republicans on the immigration issue just as egregious as Harry Reid's treasonous slurs about our military. Republican politicians had their view best expressed, I believe, by Senator Lott in his speech saying effectively we should trust him on what's right. That shows a lack of concern and a lack of integrity on his part that his constituents basically know nothing. Other Republicans are now showing that same attitude with respect this immigration /border security issue as well other issues.

Our own President will not stand up for honorable men such as General Pace or other military leaders when attacked by politicians from the opposing party or our own. Instead he turns his back on them in a purely political move. He shows no loyalty to his people (other that AG Gonzales in time of trouble) and allows these scurrilous attacks against the fine men and women in our military to continue with impunity and he only half-hearted replies, if he replies at all, to Senators Reid, Durbin and others continually making the remarks. True Republican leaders like Senators DeMint, Sessions and Coburn are not heard by you ... it appears that they stand for America.

It is disheartening to see Republicans supporting the Kennedy amnesty monstrosity. History has shown he has lied about immigration and amnesty for decades. It was disheartening to see Republicans supporting the flawed McCain/Feingold campaign reform monstrosity several years back, giving them a leg up and ignoring true reform. Both bills were shams and were never intended to be true reform. The President's latest effort to appropriate money for the fence to secure the border from the penalties collected. Please the bill was funded previously, where did the money go. Why was it not used as legislated. I often wonder if any the GOP and Republican politicians supporting this Amnesty bill truly know the meaning of the word 'ILLEGAL'. Instead many now use the euphemism 'undocumented', a total absurdity reflecting a lack of conscience or common sense.

The current SB 1348 Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007 is not comprehensive nor is it a plan. It is flawed as it is the product of special interest and back-room political chicanery. It was conducted in secret with no input from the American people. You remember them ... the folks you work for. This bill is AMNESTY in its most simple form, by giving special consideration for violating the rule of law, regardless of how much any politician (Republican or Democrat) yells at us it is not. The proposed fines are a sop to assuage our conscience, plus based on the historical record of this and prior Administrations they will never be collected. The 'triggers' aren't even a player as the 'probationary' status commences without them actually occurring. Plus the time to conduct a background check is 24 hours, that is ludicrous ... in an over worked system to boot. For Pete's sake citizens have a five day waiting period to buy a gun in the US. Background check for security clearance take months, even years and yet you give away the key to the Treasury in 24 hours. Let's not even begin discussing in detail the giving away of US tax dollars in entitlements that the 'probationary' status would put into effect. The bill actually "clears the way" for illegal's here for a special consideration in that they get 'cuts' in the line between those already in the process. The dates reflect that they move between those already in the process at the 31 May 2005 and 1 June 2005 date ... many who may still be in their home country. This is fair to those abiding by the law. No, it is not.

With this bill you are handing out a privilege in an effort to create a legacy ... a bad one. You are slapping millions of immigrants in the face and telling them that their following the law ment nothing. You are slapping Americans in the face by telling them that their input and opinion is trite and not needed or wanted. A good legacy would be to enforce the laws on the books to their fullest extent. A good legacy would be to start standing up for America and Americans and protect our sovereignty as a nation and our borders. Then adding to that good legacy would be true Immigration reform, Tax reform, Social Security and Medicare reform, a viable energy policy making the US self-sufficient to name just a few options. Instead we get half hearted efforts and continual sweet talk and no real reform, just special interests getting what they want yet again.

I've been a lifelong Republican voter, 40 odd years, and it truly hurts me to see the GOP devolving into another Democratic Party. Sinking to the level of the Democrats and liberals expressed by name calling and histrionics as well as just plain ignoring the facts of a given situation for what I can only guess personal gain and aggrandizement. The Republican Party no longer stands for the rights of Americans as they try to be like Democrats and "win the heart" of Americans through give aways and entitlements in an effort too buy votes.

President Reagan once said, "I didn't leave the Democratic party, the Democratic party left me." Well, I feel that the Republican Party has left me because it has left its basic values and principles far behind and adopted the same perverted, self-serving values and principles as the Democratic Party. We have lost our integrity, or way and our will to survive. Instead we are selling our soul by sacrificing it on the alter of "Go Along To Get Along" .

When the GOP and Republican elected representatives return to show respect to American citizens and conservative voters in the same proportion that they now show to illegal aliens then I might begin to believe in politicians again. I will be watching. I will be listening. I will vote my conscience. Please remove me from your email list.

I, as well, sent a similar reply to the letter I received wanting money. I mailed it back in their “metered” envelope and made them pay for it and have to pay staff to open it and read it.

The GOP has is going to have to make Motel 6 their Convention Hotel at the ‘08 Convention due to lack of money.

I cut up my new Repub membership card and wrote a note on the gimme form that I will be giving personally to Sessions, Shelby and my Rep who oppose the amnesty. When they start opening envelopes and cut up cards fall out instead of money, maybe a candle will be lit against the darkness.

When we send these letters back to the RNC, let’s explain the other causes of our anger, too: Dumping General Pace, not standing up for Libby, anything else you can think of.
