War was on for this summer in any case. Iran is using it's proxies Hezballah and HAMAS to attack Israel. That was a given. The bigger question is what Syria does. They've been making noises about attacking Israel. I think that's cover for the re-invasion of Lebanon. The world doesn't care if Arabs slaughter Arabs or one Arab country invades another Arab country. The only make noise when Israel or the US are involved.

The rest of the world hates the Jews, because they tend to be successful. The world hates the US, because we are successful. They resent that they know they need us when bullies pick on their country. In the meantime, it costs nothing to foment anti-Americanism.

Iran has been playing a game of "Let's you and him fight". I think they are 1. buying time, 2. trying to make the cost of attacking Iran seem to be too high, 3. scaring the Gulf States in order for 4. completing their nuke program.

At home, President Bush is too busy attacking his base of supporters, to realize that he'll need us this summer to back Israel and take on Syria and Iran. However, having pissed on his supporters, who realize why back the President to defend America, while he's giving away America to Mexico and Big Business, he won't have the support he needs.

So, this summer it's going to be left up to Israel. Next summer Bush is going to have to threaten to nuke Iran to maintain some peace, while he waits out the clock on his term and the new President gets in. Such is the price of political stupidity and lack of communications skill in the Network Age.

The bottom line is that this president attacked the wrong Middle-Eastern country. Now we can’t take care of business with Iran and Syria because we’re mired up to our flak jackets in Iraq.

Additionally, Israel is losing the demographic game due to low birth rates. The status quo over there will not continue another hundred years (and it’s Israelis who told me this). They need to change the way they do business too.
