Several have mentioned suing NC. But seems to me it should not be NC but Durham - along with Nifong, the stripper, 88, etc.

Well, it would sure be fun, BUT:

No link. Where is your link? I don’t see a vanity label.

Also, following the links in a reply above brings me to something that does not mention anyone by name or inference, nor does it it even say what anyone is accused of. It is just a bunch of left wing feel good commie-lib babble.

Can somebody describe or post the statement the 88 signed their names too?

I just realized I don't remember if I've seen it or not?

It's interesting to juxtapose this from the '88s' ad...

I was talking to a white woman student who was asking me “Why do people --and she meant black people -- make race such a big issue?” They don’t see race. They just don’t see it.

next to this from MLK...

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

and then to consider who it is that is living MLK's dream
and who it is that is racist.

The best service to all of society that the plaintiffs could seek from the infamous 88 is the full and complete resignation from their teaching positions and any other employment at Duke; as Duke was the “public home” of the young men at which the slander took place. They must be asked to leave that “public home” they slandered by way of how they slandered its lacross team and the three wrongly accused young men.

Those 88 professors are not professors at all, they are people bent on political missions and political agendas masquerading as professors.

I have absolutely no use for lawyers and believe all law schools in this country need to be closed for 10 years to reduce the glut of these bottom feeders on society, but in this case I hope they bleed those liberal professor’s whom have never worked a real job or served this country they slander by putting on a Military uniform dry. I’m off to the Commissary today to buy plenty of microwave popcorn for this one.

Reminds me of Richard Pryor’s description of what his first ex-wife’s attorney asked for —

“You got any dreams? We want those, too.”

More from the CYA letter:

There have been public calls to the authors to retract the ad or apologize for it, as well as calls for action against them and attacks on their character. We reject all of these. We think the ad's authors were right to give voice to the students quoted, whose suffering is real. We also acknowledge the pain that has been generated by what we believe is a misperception that the authors of the ad prejudged the rape case.

Are we to believe that the university president acted completely alone without even a hint of input from any of these 88 faculty members when deciding to fire the lacrosse coach? Please. I find it beyond belief that none of these faculty members took the time to tell the president how they really felt.

Don’t forget the deep pockets of Time-Warner, owners of Court TV, home of the lovely slanderer, Nancy Grace.

Having seen some of the youtube video of her regarding the Duke boys, her libel exposure seems significant. Her employer's legal department is probably not pleased

I’d love to see these s.o.b.s pay through the nose. But what exactly was in the ad that would make them civilly liable? (I pose this question in the hope that thee IS something!) Freepers, please respond.

They forgot the premise of the justice system, “innocent until proven guilty.” In their haste to show how sympathetic they are to a minority they trampled the rights of these wrongfully accused defendants. It was typical lefty behavior and I hope the defendants take each and every one of them to the bank. Make them pay for their stupidity. You can’t fix stupid but you can sure make them pay.

These professors should be held accountable for the uncalled for grief they added to these boys lives.

Not good! People, even scumbags like these, have a right to express opinions without getting legally punished, at least if America is still free.

In the long run, Duke will pay the $$ for all these professors slander. Since they are all on Duke’s payroll, even if they acted on their own accord, Duke will still have the main liability. Ah, the joys of tenure for professors

I work for a college, and deal to an extent with risk-management....so I got a good read on this.

Remember Duke did nothing, and still has done nothing, to these slanderous professors.

They wont go after Ms Magnum....unless she hits big in porn movies. She couldnt pay damages anyway. Also, Duke U and Nifong acted on her lie...which was the real damage

As for CourtTV and Nancy Grace...it wont be the first time they shelled out $$ and retractions for getting a high-profile case wrong. They usually settle out of court. Court TV is wrong, quite often.

Remember John and Patsy Ramsey (JonBenet Ramsey murder)...the media has shilled out major $$ in libel settlements to them. Same with Gary Condit and his ex-wife

The Duke Lacrosse players at least will be set for life financially. Just hope they recover emotionally...fortunately they have strong family support
