Right now Prime Minister Olmert has a very safe majority (77 seats) in the Knesset. It is far more likely that a larger unity government will be the response to an impending war that a successful toppling of this government. I agree that we’d be better off with new leadership but realistically it’s not going to happen now.

I do see replacing Amir Peretz with Ehud Barak at the Defense Minister as positive. His military record is excellent and he has definitely moved to a more hawkish position since losing the Premiership. Let’s hope Prime Minister Olmert gives him enough of a free hand to act as necessary when necessary.

You may be right, but for that I blame the Democratic Party and its willing allies in the media. Their opposition to Bush has criticized him only from the Left, but he’s more vulnerable on the Right. He was the one who said states that sponsor terrorism will be held accountable. He knows and has known for a long time of Iran’s role in Iraq, Lebanon, and Israel. He’s even allowing us to fail and American soldiers to die because he won’t take the intelligence we have to the American people so they can know the true story. The Democrats, in a fit of incredible parochial partisanship, have come to hate Bush more than they hate al Qaeda, the Iranian mullahs nuclear weapons program, and Iran’s support for terrorism; it’s this division that undermines our national security and allows Iran to pursue its evil agenda as if it were truly a Super Power. Zbigniew Brzezinski even argues that we should allow Iran to become a nuclear power!!! What madness is this?
