WASHINGTON South Carolina appears poised to shake up the 2008 presidential race, with Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Fred Thompson the frontrunners in a new state survey by Mason-Dixon.
With strong support from the African American community, Illinois Senator Obama has assumed a strong lead over New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. On the Republican side, Thompson zoomed to the top spot, slightly ahead of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, even though he hasn't yet announced his bid for the GOP nomination.

Is Fred even running?
I thought Lindsey Graham and John McCain ran South Carolina?
I’m supporting Hillary right up till election day,
just to see my Democrat supporting friends have that
“Hillary” bumper sticker on their cars, it’ll be funnier
than Al Franken’s talk radio audience.
If accurate I bet the ashtrays are flying around Mrs. Clinton about now.
Fred has been running for a while now, just hasn’t officially announced for various contractual and reporting reasons. If they did, McCain would have been nominated in 2000. They control certain officials and GOP head quarters, but not the voters.
Oh please please PLEASE make it so! I can't wait for their first debate!

PS Note to Mr Obama; Never attempt a battle of wits unarmed.
I hope the Obama/Clinton race divides the Black community of America. If Hillary gets the nod, I hope a lot of Blacks feel “slighted” and stay home on Election Day.
If Obama gets the nod, I hope there is a white backlash, spearheaded by the Clinton Mafia.
Sorry, but, am I missing something here?
I do NOT understand your Post #5. Maybe I need to go to bed; it’s late.
“Im supporting Hillary right up till election day,
just to see my Democrat supporting friends have that
Hillary bumper sticker on their cars,....”
On election day, I am voting for someone else, I just want to laugh
at most Democrats I know, because I don’t think they want ‘Hillary 2008’ bumper stickers, though some may just be putting up a front so they don’t appear to be pansies.
Then,
“......itll be funnier
than Al Frankens talk radio audience.”
Not many, but can you imagine the few that did listen?
