Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saturdays rejected comments made by US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher on the gas pipeline project to transfer gas from Iran to Pakistan and India.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Tasnim Aslam said Pakistan is determined to implement the project and transfer Iran's gas to Pakistan and India.
She said the comment by the US official is not in the line with Pakistan's interests and high ranking officials of Pakistan make decision on their country's interests.
"We have a transparent and clear stance on this issue and Iran's gas is our first priority in providing energy for our country," the spokesperson said.
She added President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz are determined to finalize the giant project.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman said the US official comment on providing energy in Pakistan was 'undesirable'.
US official Richard Boucher, who is visiting Pakistan, said Friday his country is against the pipeline project.
Speaking on a Pakistani TV channel, Boucher said US, according to its laws, will deal with any country which invests in Iran or has economic cooperation with that country.
He added US has reservations on Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline project.
