"Moore said he hoped the documentary would shape the debate ahead of the 2008 presidential election, saying he thought most Americans were ready to accept sacrifices now to provide coverage for the 47 million Americans without insurance."

It's already shaping the debate Mikey,
your side wants to keep it at 47 million,
mine wants to cut that number by 12 - 20 milion.
(Without nationalizing anything except the borders)

"If that means I have to wait four weeks for a knee replacement, I'll wait,"

And to think he had to research health care to make this schlockumentary. This statement only provides a look into the narrowness of his thought process.

Regardless of the truth behind the "waiting period" indicated, a person who needs this surgery soaks up other portions of government assistance while waiting.

That won’t be enough to show a profit on this tribute to socialism.

Can I quote Eric Cartman on this? "They're hippies, they don't have any money!"

Half the hospital beds on the US-CANADA border are filled with Canadians who would be dedad if they waited for the socialist bureaucrazis to OK their surgeries.

He’s counting on an “onslaught” as the critical part of his marketing/advertising strategy for the film. That’s his stock in trade. Moore, Spike Lee, Al Gore, etc.: They all count on controversy to market their films.

Um, no. How about all the rich liberal lefties doing it if they believe in it so much? I can hardly afford my own health care costs.

Is “onslaught” a synonym for “buffet” ?

Actually Moore does not fear reprisals. What he really fears is having his epic film ignored by the public. and unless the driveby media shills harder for him, Moore better start donning a silver suit and learn how to surf.

BTW—why does Reuters et al always resort to calling menatlly unbalanced liberal hacks...”gadflys”. Is that supposed to make them more endearing?

"My hope in this film was to reach out across the great divide that exists in this country and say you know, those on the other side, who may disagree with me, can't we find some common ground on this issue? We're all Americans."

No Mike, your a fat Socialist pig that hates this country. Your a hypocrat and proven liar. When you die of your massive heart attack, I hope your alive just long enough for the emergency doctor to utter the last words you'll ever hear "We American doctors can't save him! Send him to Fidel for treatment!"

Geez, I saw this guy on some talk show a few days ago. He was trying to make a point about he hasn’t done any interviews in two years. I thought to myself, that’s a good start. All I noticed about him was that he’s gotten even fatter than he was before.

I have a friend in Canada who waited years for surgery on her knees...

...after years of waiting on her knees for surgery I bet she really needed it...

Huh? He thinks that ALL Americans are characterized by civic-mindedness and decency? Then who does he suspect will be sending the hate mail?

I am not an expert on health care, but there is likely a lot that can be improved. But I don’t trust MM to deliver an object analysis.

“If that means I have to wait four weeks for a knee replacement, I’ll wait,” he said. “I believe that the majority of Americans would agree with that.”

Moore is delusional. Britain has loooooong waiting lines for this procedure. Since it is deemed “non emergency” care one could wait as long as two years just to be considered.
