...Several al-Qaeda leaders believe operatives can pay their way into the country through Mexico and also believe illegal entry is more advantageous than legal entry for operational security reasons, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Admiral James Loy testified on February 16 before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. At home, we must prepare ourselves for any attack, from IEDs (improvised explosive devices) to Weapons of Mass Destruction
from soft targets like malls to national icons. Loy is hardly a lone voice....

I, and others as well, have mentioned Admiral Loys testimony numerous times on other immigration threads. Unfortunately, several sources I had relating to this testimony seemed to have disappeared off of the web.
FYI
I wonder how many have snuck in. Certainly still revelant as long as we have an open border.
Looks like a great article...along the lines of Todd Bennsmans series.
Thanks
Thanks Dat Mon, I was having trouble finding Loy’s statements too.
Here’s some others.
(2005) http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0411/16/ldt.01.html DOBBS: Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is warning of the threat of terrorists entering this country through the same routes as those used by illegal aliens. Secretary Rumsfeld, traveling in South America, warned that enemies look for weaknesses and take advantage of them.
DONALD RUMSFELD, SECRETARY OF DEFENSE: The risk is that some of these human-smuggling routes into our country from this hemisphere could be used just as easily for terrorists.
DOBBS: And three million illegal aliens are estimated to be entering this country this year.
Secretary Rumsfeld also said the United States has to be, as he put it, smarter and quicker in securing our borders. The federal governments failure to secure those borders is leading individual states to take action. Arizonas Proposition 200, which limits state benefits for illegals, passed overwhelmingly two weeks ago. Now at least half a dozen other states are considering similar measures.
Consider the following 5 statements by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson given at a Senate Floor Speech 16 March 2005 to President George.W. Bush (page S 2828).
1. In Detroit, Mahmoud Youssef Kourani was indicted in the Eastern District of Michigan on one count of conspiracy to provide material support to Hezbollah. Kourani was already in custody for entering the country illegally through Mexico and was involved in fund raising activities on behalf of Hezbollah.
2. ...the capture of terrorist suspect Jose Padilla. The Justice Department says Padilla and an accomplice planned to enter the United States through Mexico to blow up apartment buildings in major cities such as New York.
3. Or the case of suspected al-Qaida sleeper agent Mohammed Junaid Babar, who told investigators of a scheme to smuggle terrorists across the Mexican border. He is tied to a terror plot to carry out bombings and assassinations in London.
4. Intelligence reports suggesting that 25 Chechen terrorism suspects have illegally entered the United States from Mexico have refocused attention on a porous border from which many believe the next major attack on Americans could come.
5. Also last July, an Egyptian man United States authorities described as one of their most wanted smugglers of humans was arrested on charges of operating a ring that illegally brought people from Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries to the United States. The indictment says Abdallah and his associates would direct people seeking to reach the United States to travel to one of several Latin American countries, and from there to Guatemala. They would then be transported to America through Mexico in return for payments of thousands of dollars in smuggling fees.
It is blatantly obvious even to the most casual reader that Islamic terrorists have been, and continue to, cross the U.S./Mexico border into America.

FBI Director Robert Mueller said this week that his agency busted a smuggling ring organized by the terrorist group Hezbollah that had operatives cross the Mexican border to carry out possible terrorist attacks inside the U.S."This was an occasion in which Hezbollah operatives were assisting others with some association with Hezbollah in coming to the United States, Mueller told a House Appropriations subcommittee during a Tuesday hearing on the FBI's budget.
In a stunning revelation, Mueller admitted that Hezbollah had succeeded in smuggling some of its operatives across the border, telling the House committee: "That was an organization that we dismantled and identified those persons who had been smuggled in. And they have been addressed as well.
In going back over older articles and bookmarks I had, and reading statements of Bush officials back in the first admin, it seems to me that patriots like Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, and Loy were trying to get the message out in regards to the links between Mexican alien smuggling operations, and global terrorism activities.
I have another story...you might want to post it...which shows the stupidity of later Admin efforts to convince people that there CANNOT be any link between MS_13 and Al Qeada...because MS-13 is Catholic!
Somebody has to post that story...its something else....
Its called insulting your intelligence...the hallmark of this Administration when it comes to immigration.
Ever wonder why none of these terrorists ever want to bomb Mexico?
