CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A Charleston County fire and rescue official says nine bodies were removed from the scene of a fire at a furniture store.
Too sad.

These warehouse and store fires are very dangerous. I remember that there was one in the Northeast (New Jersey?) some years ago where a large number of firemen were killed. And, IIRC, New York City stopped having firefighters go into these fires after several firemen were killed by the collapse of a roof in a nighttime fire at a supermarket or some other kind of big store building. If it’s a vacant building, their policy now is to contain it until it becomes manageable.
