The tree-hugger types are also the types who say “war never solves anything”. Sounds like they want to cover up evidence of a war that really did solve something.
The people of Mississippi have got to be smarter than that.

It’s different here in No. VA. The enviros and Civil War preservationists have to band together against developers. Thank God for them we still have what’s left of the Bull Run battlefield. There are still big fights ahead for Fredricksburg, the Wilderness, and Brandy Station.
They tried to stop logging on private property near my parents. They brought in an expert to testify in court about how it would be unconscienable to destroy all of the “virgin timber”. That concept gained traction in court until someone pointed out that everyone in the surrounding area knew that it had been timbered no less than 4 times in the last century.
If I perjured myself in court like that, I would get thrown in jail.
Here in the upper Midwest we’ve had experience with this.
Expect the eco-fascists to make wild claims.
They will lie and attempt to ignore and ultimately nullify the park’s original charter.
Their ultimate goal will be to ban people from the park.
I recommend you contact the people here:
They’ve already fought a similar battle, can give you advice and strategies to fight the eco-fascists and may save you time and money in researching the various legal paths you’ll need to take.

The Manassas Battlefield is going through a similar fight, as they want to cut down some trees that have grown over some of the battle sight lines.
they seem to be confused between a national park
and a national MILITARY park
maybe we could invite them for a re-enactment
when Porter’s union gunboats bombed civilians in downtown Vicksburg for 47 days
or when land based mortars did the same
that would teach those plant worshippers a thing or two....
you can’t trust folks who worship mother nature....masochists they are....she is one meanassed diety.....I can’t say I’ve seen her in person since those butter ads
Let's preserve our heritage.

Likely due to my location, I can’t load the page. (I’m on government lines in Iraq)

Isn't that different from a National Park?
Whatever you do, don't let anyone who has "planning" and "environment" in their title have anything to do with it!
Should there be some water moccasins there, let's make that a surprise. ;o)
