To: Sleeping Freeper
State lawmakers are scheduled to take up a bill later today that would allow Governor Easley to immediately remove Nifong from office.

I've read a couple of articles on this today, but I haven't seen by what authority this judge removed hime (not that I'm sorry to see him go). The above sentence makes it even more confusing as it seems the legislature is saying that there is no current law by which then can force him to leave.

The judge could remove, I believe, because he has been disbarred. Most DAs have to be practicing attornies.
