Saudi King Says Middle East Crisis Will Affect The World
DUBAI, June 19 (Bernama) -- The Saudi king has warned of an impending "explosion" in the Middle East, saying that it will not only affect the region but will spread all over the world, the English daily Gulf News reports.
"The Middle East region suffers from the longest conflict in our contemporary history which is the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and Israel's occupation of Arab lands," King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, said in an interview with the Spanish El Pas newspaper which was published simultaneously in Al Riyadh newspaper yesterday.
"At this point in time we are exerting efforts to solve this conflict, but we are witnessing an expansion of the crisis to include other countries like Iraq and Lebanon," he said.
"This makes the region replete with troubles that pose grave concerns for us. My fears are the fears of all reasonable men that the explosive situation will not be confined to the region but will extend to the whole world," he added.
The Saudi monarch yesterday began a five-nation trip that will take him to Spain, France, Poland, Egypt and Jordan.
King Abdullah also underlined the importance of solving the problem of Iran's nuclear programme peacefully in a way that guarantees all countries in the region to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in accordance with the standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Disturbance diverts plane to O’Hare, 2 arrested
A United Airlines non-stop flight from Boston to San Francisco was
diverted
to O’Hare International Airport this morning after a couple allegedly
harassed another passenger, police and aviation officials said.
Joseph Koschitzki, 60, and his wife, Terri Binder Koschitzki, 53, both
of
Thousand Oaks, Calif., were arrested and charged with misdemeanor
assault,
said Chicago Police Officer Tom Polick. He said it’s unclear what
transpired
on the abbreviated flight, but said the couple had run “down the aisle
toward the female victim.” The victim was in her 30s, police said.
The passengers “refused to comply with flight crew orders,” said
Aviation
Department spokesman Gregg Cunningham.
Cunningham said the couple was “consistently getting up from their
seats to
harass another individual.” Flight 173 left Boston at about 9:04 a.m.
and
arrived at O’Hare at 10:19 a.m., according to United Airlines’ web
site.
Chicago police boarded the plane and took the two individuals into
custody.
The plane was grounded at O’Hare until 12:12 p.m. and landed in San
Francisco at 2:13 p.m. local time.
The couple were released on bond and are scheduled to appear in court
at 9
a.m. Aug. 13.
A United Airlines spokeswoman did not immediately return phone calls.

Islamic State Of Iraq Carries Out Perfect Ambush
Jul 15, 2007
By Ubaidah Al-Saif, Jihad Unspun | Arabic Source: Al-Fajr Media
With the White house blantantly refusing calls to withdraw its troops from the Iraqi quagmire, no better news could have been received by the Islamic State of Iraq who keep tallying more deadily attacks against the US and their collaborators.
What seems to go over the head of the US president is that the Mujahideen fighting in Iraq are keen to keep the war going as trillions of war dollars of debt are burdening the already debt-ridden country that is sure to have a day of reckoning sooner or later. In addition, as new fronts open and a large portion of US troops are bogged down in Iraq, this weakens Americas ability to deal effectively with the rising global jihad, let alone protect its own country. Overstretched and under-resourced, not only is military morale low but the once robust Coalition that followed 911 is reduced to a handful of allies who are putting their own pressure on Bush to pull out.
Yet all this comes as new fronts continue to open up and the long awaited Caliphate is breaking through the surface despite Bushs every effort and much to the advantage of the Mujahideen. With Iraq (and its oil and strategic location) still Ground Zero for Bushs stay the course strategy, the Islamic State of Iraq is gaining strength that will pay great dividends not only now but once the Americans are force to leave and they will be forced to leave.
Here is the latest report from the Islamic State of Iraq, published uncut and uncensored, as translated by JUS. Please note that conditions in Iraq are not like the others fronts and military communications are being received as quickly as possible considering the intense fighting that is going on that can cause delays.
We remind our viewers that the opinions and points of view expressed in this statement are those of the author and shall not be deemed to mean that they are necessarily those of JUS, the publisher, editor, writers, contributors or staff

Hundreds of members of Saddam Husseins regime found working with al Qaeda in Iraq

These captures and kills demonstrate the ideological divide between secular Baathists and Islamic extremists was not so distant
Many analysts of the insurgency in Iraq are currently debating its makeup and strength, among other things. Regardless of what percentage is currently claiming allegiance to what ideology or group, the past few years of reporting have slowly revealed that at least one deadly aspect of the insurgency in Iraq has been the cooperation of some members of Saddam Hussein’s regime (though not all) and Islamic militants, particularly al Qaeda in Iraq.
Below is a list, compiled from a number of media reports over the past few years, of the names and backgrounds of some of those found to have supported or worked for the former Baath Party of Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and also al Qaeda. Parts of this list were cited by World Net Daily in a story about postwar links between members of Saddam Hussein’s regime and al Qaeda elements in Iraq.

Al-Qaeda faces rebellion from the ranks
Sickened by the groups barbarity, Iraqi insurgents are giving information to coalition forces
undefined
Deborah Haynes in Doura
Fed up with being part of a group that cuts off a persons face with piano wire to teach others a lesson, dozens of low-level members of al-Qaeda in Iraq are daring to become informants for the US military in a hostile Baghdad neighbourhood.
The ground-breaking move in Doura is part of a wider trend that has started in other al-Qaeda hotspots across the country and in which Sunni insurgent groups and tribal sheikhs have stood together with the coalition against the extremist movement.
They are turning. We are talking to people who we believe have worked for al-Qaeda in Iraq and want to reconcile and have peace, said Colonel Ricky Gibbs, commander of the 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, which oversees the area.
The sewage-filled streets of Doura, a Sunni Arab enclave in south Baghdad, provide an ugly setting for what US commanders say is al-Qaedas last stronghold in the city. The secretive group, however, appears to be losing its grip as a surge of US troops in the neighbourhood part of the latest effort by President Bush to end the chaos in Iraq has resulted in scores of fighters being killed, captured or forced to flee.
Al-Qaedas days are numbered and right now he is scrambling, said Lieutenant-Colonel Stephen Michael, who commands a battalion of 700 troops in Doura.
A key factor is that local people and members of al-Qaeda itself have become sickened by the violence and are starting to rebel, Lieutenant-Colonel Michael said. The people have got to deny them sanctuary and that is exactly what is happening.
Al-Qaeda informants comprise largely members of the Doura network who found themselves either working with the group after the US-led invasion in March 2003, or signed up to earn extra cash because there were no other jobs going. Disgusted at the attacks and intimidation techniques used on friends, neighbours and even relatives, they are now increasingly looking for a way out, US officers say.
It is only after al-Qaeda has become truly barbaric and done things like, to teach lessons to people, cut their face off with piano wire in front of their family and then murdered everybody except one child who told the tale afterwards . . . that people realise how much of a mess they are in, Lieutenant James Danly, 31, who works on military intelligence in Doura, said.
It is impossible to corroborate the claims, but he said that scores of junior al-Qaeda in Iraq members there had become informants since May, including one low-level cell leader who gave vital information after his arrest.
He gave us dates, places and names and who did what, Lieutenant Danly said. When asked why he was being so forthcoming, the man said: Because I am sick of it and I hate them, and I am done.
Working with insurgents even those who claim to have switched sides is a leap of faith for both sides. Every informant who visits Forward Operating Base Falcon, a vast military camp on the southern outskirts of Baghdad, is blindfolded when brought in and out to avoid gleaning any information about his surroundings.
The risk sometimes pays off. A recent tip-off led to the fatal shooting of Abu Kaldoun, one of three senior al-Qaeda leaders in Doura, during a US raid last week. He was turned in by one of his own, Colonel Michael said.
Progress with making contacts and gathering actionable information is slow because al-Qaeda has persuasive methods of keeping people quiet. This month it beheaded two men in the street and pinned a note on to their corpses giving warning that anyone who cooperated with US troops would meet the same fate.
The increased presence of US forces in Doura, however, is encouraging insiders to overcome their fear and divulge what they know. Convoys of US soldiers are working the rubble-strewn streets day and night, knocking on doors, speaking to locals and following up leads on possible insurgent hideouts.
People in al-Qaeda come to us and give us information, said Lieutenant Scott Flanigan, as he drove past a line of fruit and vegetable stalls near a shabby shopping street in Doura, where people were buying bread and other groceries.
The informants were not seeking an amnesty for crimes that they had committed. They just do not want to be killed, Lieutenant Flanigan said.
Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi who was killed in a US raid last year established the Iraqi al-Qaeda network in 2004, but opinions differ on its compilation, size and capabilities. Some military experts believe that the group is a cell-based network of chapters who are loosely linked to an overall leader by go-between operatives.
Others, however, describe al-Qaeda in Iraq as a sort of franchise, with separate cells around the country that use the brand made infamous by Osama bin Laden and cultural ideology but do not work closely with each other or for one overriding leader.
Despite the uncertainties one thing seems guaranteed. A hardcore of people calling themselves al-Qaeda in Iraq remains devoted to the extremist cause and is determined to fight on whatever the cost.

Children flee as pilots homemade plane explodes in school playground
undefined
Adam Sage in Paris
An adventurer attempting to fly across the Atlantic in a homemade aircraft was killed yesterday, after crashing into a block of flats just five minutes after take-off and falling in flames into a crowded playground.
All 19 children at the nursery school escaped without injury, even though burning fuel was sprayed across the local neighbourhood. Debris from the accident was scattered over the residential district, with a section of the undercarriage and flight instruments lying in the street.
Hans Georg Schmid, an experienced Swiss pilot with dozens of endurance records to his name, had planned to fly nonstop for 30 hours from Mulhouse, in eastern France, to the US in a light aircraft that he had built himself to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the first solo transatlantic crossing by Charles Lindbergh.
But his adventure went horribly wrong immediately after take-off, when his Express 2000 ER plane crashed into a residential area of Basel, in Switzerland.
There was a loud bang, said Silvia Kalman, a supervisor who was looking after the children. A jungle gym burst into flames, but none of the children was injured. Mr Schmids body was later recovered from the playground. Police marked his belongings with white chalk circles.
Six people suffered minor injuries, including four fire officers and two residents in the block of flats. All were released from hospital within hours. It is a miracle that there werent any more victims, said Markus Melzl, a spokesman for Basels prosecutors office.
The aircraft, named Polar Frontier by Mr Schmid, was carrying 1,700 litres of fuel, required by the pilot to cover the 5,000 miles that separated him from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. We avoided the worst, a few metres away theres a hospital, said Medor Jach, head of the regional fire brigade.
Emanuel Kramer, a resident, said: I was at home when I heard a big explosion followed by two or three smaller ones. When I looked out of the window I saw a huge column of black smoke billowing into the sky.
Mr Schmid, or HG as he was known, aimed to break the 5,000-mile speed record as a prelude to what he hoped would be his crowing glory this year circling the world twice, north-bound and southbound. The 58-year-old former Swissair pilot planned to cross the North Pole in the darkness and fly over the Pacific during the hurricane and typhoon season, despite the challenge of strong winds, extreme temperatures and two landings in Antarctica.
Mr Schmid, who claimed to hold 162 aviation records, spent six years building the composite aircraft that was to take him on the transatlantic crossing and then on the round-the-world-flights.
Powered by a Lycoming engine and equipped with long-range fuel tanks, the aircraft was declared airworthy on May 26 and had its maiden flight on June 12. Vincent Devauchelle, the deputy director of the Mulhouse airport, said that the aircraft had run into difficulty soon after take-off.
He said that the Swiss Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, of which Mr Schmid had been a member for ten years, would hold an inquiry to determine the cause of the crash.
The pilot had been planning to take part in the Experimental Aircraft Associations Airventure gathering in Wisconsin this week. Up to 750,000 spectators and 10,000 aircraft from around the world are expected at the event.
Mr Schmid had 31 years experience as a pilot, including ten years as a Swissair captain. He had said that he had 16,000 hours of flying experience, and had sought to attract sponsors with a claim that he was a well-known personality in Switzerland.
On his website, he said his round-the-world flights in November would attract global media coverage.
A life in the sky
As well as building aircraft and setting aviation records, Hans Georg Schmid spent 31 years as a commercial airline pilot captaining passenger aircraft
He circumnavigated the world twice in 2000, once eastbound and once westbound. He built his own aircraft, the Long-EZ
The journey of about 50,000 nautical miles (92,600km) took some 400 hours over 27 days
Schmid had logged more than 16,000 hours of flight experience and had served as a member of the Swiss Accident Investigation Board
As well as setting dozens of speed records, his several long-range flights included two commemorative round trips from Switzerland to South Africa in 1997 and 1998

Russian spies in Australia at ‘near Cold War level’
stuff.co.nz ^ | July 23, 2007

Russia has boosted the number of spies in Australia to near Cold War levels, forcing the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) to train a new generation of counter-espionage officers.
The growing problem comes on top of an even larger threat from a rise in the number of Chinese agents operating in Australia in recent years.
Sources have told The Australian newspaper Russia and China pose the most serious espionage threat to Australia’s national interest since Cold War days.
A spokeswoman for federal Attorney-General Philip Ruddock confirmed ASIO had recently boosted its resources dedicated to counter-espionage but declined to comment on the nature of the threat or identify countries.
“The additional staffing will allow ASIO to broaden the scope and reach of its counter-espionage and foreign interference investigations and to expand its outreach activity to government departments and agencies,” the spokeswoman told the newspaper.

Runaway Military Train Derails in N.Y.
WJLA TV (ABC News, AP Story) ^
Posted on 07/23/2007 10:10:11 AM PDT by tgslTakoma
WATERTOWN, N.Y. - Monday July 23, 2007 12:03 pm
A runaway military train coasted for several miles Monday before derailing, causing a propane tanker to catch fire and forcing evacuations, a fire official said. No injuries were reported from the accident, just after 9 a.m., said Watertown Deputy Fire Chief Milton Sayre. Businesses and homes within a half-mile area of the area were evacuated and part of Interstate 81 was shut down as a precaution, Sayre said. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, but the evacuation was to continue until authorities could identify all the materials on the derailed cars and make sure there was no further danger, he said.
Sayre said he was told the train was carrying Army equipment bound for Iraq but had no further details about the cargo or the reason the train began rolling.
The train originated at nearby Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division light infantry. Fort Drum spokesman Ben Abel said the Army had no immediate comment and referred questions to civilian authorities because it occurred off the post.
The runaway train derailed after striking a vehicle being used by a Conrail work crew repairing some rails, Sayre said.
“The work crew had taken over the tracks. It (the train) just coasted down, that’s why they weren’t expecting anything,” Sayre said. “It’s about eight miles. It’s not steep but it’s all downhill. It sounds strange, but that’s how accidents happen.”
Hazardous materials teams from Watertown and surrounding communities were on the scene. The Fort Drum Mobile Incident Command Center also was sent in.
That is beautiful and not to be forgotten, as we do not forget those who gave and the many who offer today the finest gift that they have to offer...........their life, so we can remain free.
Thank you for sharing this, I had not heard it all in one writing.

Analysis: All quiet on the Mideast front?

WASHINGTON, July 23 (UPI) — All is quiet on the Middle Eastern front — for the time being.
A little over a year after the war between Israel and the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah ended almost as abruptly as it had started, there are rumblings of renewed violence possibly breaking out in the Middle East.
The next few months could be “fateful” for Syria, according to the country’s president, Bashar Assad, as quoted by the usually very well informed Internet blog, SyriaComment.com. *snip*
Writing in the London-based newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, Ali Reza Nourizadeh reports that the defense agreement between the two countries allows Iran to keep MiG-31E fighter aircrafts based in Syria with Syrian markings, but at Iran’s disposal.
Syria hopes to use the money to renew its aging fighter jets, Soviet-era tanks and anti-ship missiles, and to develop its nuclear and chemical weapons research programs.

North Bergen, NJ — As a radio talk show host, I receive a whole slew of e-mail and regular mail about virtually every issue under the sun. Much of it gets deleted or thrown away. Some of it results in stories appearing on my web site or being discussed on my show. Every once in awhile, something akin to a bombshell arrives and yesterday, July 18, 2007 was one such day.
I came into possession of portions of a U.S. military plan which was allegedly classified “Top Secret.” This put me in a bind because without having a security clearance myself, having something which is Classified is unlawful. Reading such a document is also unlawful and revealing it to the public is definietly unlawful. So, I thought about it. I decided screw it, I’m going to read it.
As I read the document, my blood ran cold. Chills ran up my spine. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. My gut started churning. This document is an operational plan to use U.S. military troops against U.S. Citizens!

Take a look at the google link.
Glad you are back, I missed you.
Gee Whiz, I felt ill reading the recipe.
Feel even more ill, when I think of the meaning of the ingredients.
