THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!
OUR CHRISTIAN PRESIDENT CONTINUES TO WALK HIS TALK:

Bush plans to veto stem cell bill
By Deb Riechmann

WASHINGTON - Pushing back against the Democratic-led Congress, President Bush intends to veto a bill Wednesday that would have eased restraints on federally funded embryonic stem cell research — work that supporters say holds promise for fighting disease.

At the same time, Bush will discuss at a White House event his efforts to encourage work that could make additional stem cell lines available for research, presidential spokesman Tony Fratto said Tuesday.

The president has accused majority Democrats of recycling an old measure that he already vetoed and argued that the bill would mean American taxpayers would — for the first time — be compelled to support the deliberate destruction of human embryos.

“The president supports and encourages stem cell research — including using embryonic lines — as long as it does not involve creating, harming or destroying embryos,” Fratto said. “That is an ethical line that should not be crossed.”

MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS AND KEEP OUR BRAVE WARRIORS:

U.S. says 10,000 troops in major Iraq offensive
By Dean Yates

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The U.S. military using attack helicopters, armored fighting vehicles and 10,000 soldiers launched an offensive north of Baghdad on Tuesday in one of the single biggest operations since the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

“The end state is to destroy the al Qaeda influences in this province and eliminate their threat against the people,” Brigadier-General Mick Bednarek, deputy commanding general, operations, 25th Infantry Division, said in a statement.

“That is the number one, bottom-line, up-front, in-your-face, task and purpose.”

The military said 22 militants were killed in the early hours of the offensive around the city of Baquba in Diyala province, an al Qaeda in Iraq stronghold.

U.S. military commanders said they were taking advantage of the completion of a build-up of American forces in Iraq under a crackdown in Baghdad that began four months ago. The crackdown has forced many militants to move to areas around the capital.

The statement said about 10,000 soldiers, backed by attack helicopters, close air support and armored fighting vehicles were taking part in OPERATION ARROWHEAD RIPPER.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Junteenth Message From The President
By Princella Smith

THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
June 19, 2007

I send greetings to those commemorating Juneteenth.

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln acknowledged the great injustice and oppression of slavery and acted out of the strength of his convictions to proclaim that every person must be free. Two and a half years later, on June 19, 1865, this extraordinary news finally reached the people of Texas when Major General Gorgdon Granger and his Union soldiers landed at Galveston and announced the end of slavery. On Juneteenth, we celebrate the joy of hope fulfilled and remember the great significance embodied in such a historic new beginning.

As we mark this important day, we celebrate the progress our country has made and recognize our duty to carry on the unfolding story of American freedom. I encourage all Americans to continue our march toward the day when the worth and humanity of every person is respected and the full promise of America reaches every citizen.

Laura and I send our best wishes on this special occasion.
