The OP states, not even implies, that Thompson supporters are "crazy", as in mentally deficient, offering no evidence to support such a claim (namely, because it's a baseless claim). I'd call that ad hominem, wouldn't you?
Hence the gnats.
In the interview Mr Thompson was strongly critical of the conduct of the Iraq war, and said America would proceed with a greater dose of realism in the future.
That's not what I've read from Fred on the issue, I'm wondering if the reporters bias is showing.
Great new graphic polmom!
His waiting until July also might have to do with the fact that the HBO movie “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee”, in which he plays President Ulysses S. Grant, started airing on June 14th and will last air around the 28th. At that point, all of his professional obligations will have been met, and his being a candidate won’t foul anything up for either HBO or NBC.
Ross Perot
Fred wasn't 'avoiding' the debates; he wasn't invited, because he was not yet a declared candidate. I didn't watch either of them because there is nothing useful to be learned from them. The first one that Fred joins, I'll watch, if only for the entertainment value of seeing him tower over all of them on the stage.
Fred has many people joining his team who successfully managed to get George W. Bush elected President TWICE during very grueling campaigns. I think it's wonderful that those professionals have decided to throw their weight behind Fred. They didn't back a loser the last two times, and I don't think they're planning to start now.
If the other Republican candidates hadn't jumped into the race so early, they could be doing the same thing Fred is doing. No one forced them to announce so quickly; it was their choice, and they have to deal with the consequences of that decision.
Sorry, hon, it's a real big world, and there are lot of people who don't like us, for whatever reason. The US SHOULD project that freedom is a right, and that democracies, or at least representative republics, are a good thing for FREE peoples. If there were more freedom and capitalism, there would be more stable societies around the world, and the US would be in less danger.
Fred didn't say that the US should force it on other countries, only show them that by emulating it, they too can be prosperous.
What is it with you people and Jeri Thompson’s cleavage? It’s an amazing fixation you have.
Fair enough. I keep reading Fred Threads and trying to get as much information as possible to made a sound decision. My only concern with him is that he sounds “to good to be true.” I know that there are great people in politics, but due to the environment in the last couple decades, it seems I have become very suspect of every candidate. It is a shame that I feel this way, but of course the politicians certainly have given me the right to feel this way.
The best thing about Fred, in my opinion, is that he doesn’t NEED the job. He’s not lusting after being President to fulfill some lifetime ambition or goal. He senses the need of the country for someone who is plain spoken, not some slickster who comes across like a used car salesman.
>Fear not. The LORD is my light and my salvation....<
Oh, am I impressed or what?! When one runs out of reasonable argument, one falls back on trying to throw a guilt trip by hiding behind scripture. The Lord would not be proud of one for doing that. The Lord loves the other just as much as the Lord loves the one.
Hey Suzi! You sure got up on your soapbox early today - early PDT, that is. :) You Fredheads sound at the point of obsession about your candidate. Never saw adults get up on their high horses so quickly as a Fredhead does. The guy must actually walk on water - not.
And you must be all wise, all seeing, all knowing to say that the candidates actually running are “lusting after being President to fulfill some lifetime ambition or goal.” Even calling them “some slickster who comes across like a used car salesman.”
Now that is absolutely amazing insight on your part. /s
In reality, Fred Thompson must be your drug of choice.
Let's get the whole quote out there, shall we?
Let us remember that the psalm was written by David as he was surrounded by his enemies. He was in a position where he should have been afraid, just as you are somehow afraid that if Duncan Hunter does not become the next president, that somehow the republic is doomed.
So in the face of certain defeat, David put his trust in the Lord, knowing that God would deliver him and that his enemies would not withstand the power of the Lord to protect his servant.
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalms 27:1 KJV)
If that scripture bothers you, then you indeed have much to fear.
That scripture is my life’s breath. I don’t need you to preach to the choir here, Marlowe. I just resent your trying to throw it in anyone’s face to defend your own position. Get it?
If my passion for my beloved country and it’s future is something you scoff at, you are more pitiful than I first imagined. Never argue with a woman. You can’t win.
Whatever
>Whatever.<
LOL! Truce, Suzi?
My position is that I am not afraid. The scripture is my assurance of calm in a storm.
If Hillary is elected, I will not be afraid. If terrorists attack our country, I will not be afraid. God is on the throne. God is in control. The world will not end if Duncan Hunter is not elected president. The world will not end if Hillary Clinton is elected.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 KJV)
If you don't want to see any more scriptures, don't respond to this post.
>If you don’t want to see anymore scripture, don’t respond to this post.<
LOL! The guy’s completely depleted upstairs! Where did fear come into this discussion? I don’t want to see my country slip into oblivion and you paste the name fear all over that? Do I want to see scripture? There are two Bibles within 2 feet of me as I write. What more can I say?
But you digress, and have strayed from the subject at hand, which originally was, if I recall, the definition of a Federalist.
The scripture the freeper quoted was within the context of his or her point in their post. It doesn’t matter what anyone says to you, you’re really really angry. Might want to time out, cool off. I don’t think you are paying attention to anyone’s posts but your own, plus this is a Fred Thompson thread. Why not extol the virtues of Duncan Hunter on a Duncan Hunter thread. Duncan is a good candidate but he represents himself better. I’d rather listen to Duncan Hunter [and Fred Thompson] than a secondary source.
I go to Duncan Hunter articles to find out about him, I go to Fred threads to find out about him. Reagan’s 11th commandment, which I’m sure your familiar with [paraphrased] is not to speak ill of a fellow Republican. Wise words from a wise man, which both Duncan and Fred are practicing. Which I’m doing. Why not join?
