Fred Thompson, the actor and former US senator, has given his strongest indication yet that he is preparing to launch a presidential campaign in the next few weeks.
In an exclusive interview, his first with a non-US news organization, the former lawyer and star of "Law and Order", the US detective show, told The Times that his presidential bid would be based on his belief that Americans wanted change and that he was uniquely placed to provide it.
I think they perceive the reality and the reality is that perhaps this is the occasion where the man meets the times.
He said he had the experience for a tough presidential campaign in an already crowded field for the Republican nomination in next years presidential election. As we say where I grew up this aint my first rodeo. Ive seen it up close and personal. Ive had good friends run for president. I've campaigned for them. Ive known a few presidents. I understand what the job is about and I wouldnt run for it if I wasnt willing to pay the price.

I guarantee you, Fred... You’re not the man for The Times. The Times will most likely support Hillary or Obama.
I can’t wait to see how he does on a real debate. I wonder if he will show up. He may feel that he does not need to and just keep doing You Tube things.
I cant wait to see how he does on a real debate.
LOL. So true.
All the candidiates are in that position
I hope the Washington Times disagrees.
Works for me. I loved that Michael Moore thing. I look forward to seeing him trash obnoxious members of the White House press corps exactly the same way.
Fred can slay the Hildabeast.
And I predict now that is what will happen.
The Washington Times may well support him.
Not the NYSlimes though.
Problem is only 57,000 people saw that clip as of yesterday. Not near enough to get elected.
I believe this article was written for The Times of London. They define themselves on their website as “TIMES ONLINE”, so that’s how I posted it. I’m not sure of the posting rules, but I thought it had to be posted exactly as the original publication identified itself.
Brilliant! :)

I’d rather see him campaign until near the end of the year, then before the primaries, invite his top competitors (probably just Mitt) to join him in a TV studio, to discuss the issues. Permit the news networks and C-Span to pick up the feed, and post it on You Tube.
If there is another contender, then Fred should do a separate event with him.
If any of the other candidates want to debate each other, they should do the same.
If anyone wants to decline an invitation, so be it.
Any Republican with the guts to pass on the Wolf Blitzer dog-and-pony shows rises a notch in my book. It takes leadership to depart from the lemming mentality. It takes fire in the belly.
After all, if you can debate you will make an excellent President...right?
That is not the only place it was posted. It had been viewed over 100,000 times within a day or two.
This article is in The Times of London, which is owned by Rupert Muurdoch.
Maybe only 57000 have seen it on YouTube, but how many on Breitbart or on Fox News, etc?
