I’m with you. I keep remembering (you may be too young to remember this!) the debates between John Kenneth Galbraith and William F. Buckley when I was young. I was forced to watch many of them by my family- hated it then- am grateful for it now. If I grew up in this era I’d assume that a debate was a series of soundbites, not an exchange of ideas.

Part of being President is acting like the President. If you want the job, don’t walk into the job interview with anything but the mindset that it is inevitable that you will be given the job. Projecting the right image is crucial. He’s a great actor and when he starts making TV appearances he’ll come across as a great communicator. Hmmm great communicator. Now where have I heard that before???? Duncan Hunter, fund raising tornado - money raised=$538,524 - money spent=$265,971 - cash on hand=$272,552. Heck even McCain’s raised $13 million. And most people hate him.

You’re right. Good riddance to those pinheads. Gawd, they were questioning whether an American had the right to travel to England and discuss American foreign policy. I can see why they are Rudy boosters - they are clueless about the Bill of Rights.

Problem is only 57,000 people saw that clip as of yesterday. Not near enough to get elected.

And how many saw it replayed and discussed on Fox News? CNN? Other media outlets? How many read about it on FR and blogs?

Fred's thinking outside the box. You're not.

You ought to see the recent lymphoma thread over there. It’s downright sad how dopey some of those people are.

Where are you getting this number from?

Your gnattering makes Duncan look bad. He deserves better.

Did he debate Moore? That must have been hilarious, where can I see it?

It wasn’t a debate, it was a smackdown. Which will be fun when Hillary is the recipient.

Desperate jump? Hysteria? I don’t know what medication you are on, but it isn’t working. Who is desperate? Who is hysterical? I have seen no desperation or hysteria.

I have not a doubt in the world that your man will announce sometime - why should he do it now? He’s getting a free ride by the Soros media! If he announced he’d no longer get all these freebies because the media would be forced to give equal time to the legitimate candidates, who are spending their money, and giving their time now. Thompson’s delay in announcing is smart for that reason, I agree - smart, but somewhat devious as well, IMO.

I am hopeful that what we will learn from this is that these immeasurably long primary campaigns are a waste of time and money. When I was younger, the primary campaigns did not start until after Thanksgiving and the first primaries were in June and the conventions were in September. Now the primary campaigns are beginning two years before the election and the primaries are beginning almost a year before the election. I'm already sick of this primary election cycle. But then the likely winner has not even thrown his hat into the ring. Smart move.

Wait Fred. Wait!

Problem is only 57,000 people saw that clip as of yesterday.

Response continued...

In a quick search of youtube alone, Mr. Thompson's video response has been viewed 182,891 times.

This does not include the hits it had at Breitbart.tv, where it debuted, and was linked to by Drudge (and Drudge's site averages 15 million views a day).

This also doesn't include the myriad of other sites that posted his video, and ABC played it as well.

Simply put, you are wrong.

You can watch it here. It is truly a thing of beauty.

(Background, in case you're not aware: Thompson is responding to a letter from Moore[food, please] inviting him to debate about Cuba [the Weekly Standard had written that Thompson had boxes of Cuban cigars in his office]. Thompson had written an article criticizing Moore's [illegal] trip to Cuba, so Moore challenged him to debate healthcare.)

How did that hayseed ahole she is married to get elected twice? My only requirement for my party’s nominee is that he can beat Hillary.

Thompson thinks he’s above the fray.

...because he has to wait to finish out other commitments before officially declaring?

P.S. This is not to mean that he isn't above the fray, BTW...

See my post #50

A waste of photons on my screen.

Thompson's candidacy is not being promoted by Soros, it is being promoted by grassroots people who see in Thompson a viable candidate to save the Republican party from RINOs like Giuliani.

I see you are for Hunter. Hunter is a great guy and if I thought he had a snowballs chance in hell of being elected, I'd be sending him money by the truckload. But he doesn't. The best move he could make politically would be to throw his support behind Fred when Fred makes his official announcement.

Fred is going to be the next president of the United States. You heard it here first.

I don’t know what medication you are on

Diet Coke, though I prefer Diet Pepsi, but Coke was on sale this week.

So you don't see hysteria when you turn on any of the 3 cable news channels? Analysis of who believes in Creationism, what religion the candidates belong to, what Hillary's campaign theme song is going to be, how black Obama is, who McCain is most likely to punch out (I threw that one in), who is going to pardon Scooter Libby, etc?

As all this goes on, we get "Hurry Fred, hurry. You're going to be out of it Fred. Announce Fred quickly! Mitt is ahead of you in Iowa Fred. S*** or get off the pot Fred".

To me, that is also hysterical. And to succumb and believe this would, to me, be a desperate jump into the race. I'm glad he has remained calm.

We may see different things or have different definitions. Note that I never accused you of being on drugs or resorted to personal attacks when we have disagreed.
