Fred Thompson, the actor and former US senator, has given his strongest indication yet that he is preparing to launch a presidential campaign in the next few weeks.
In an exclusive interview, his first with a non-US news organization, the former lawyer and star of "Law and Order", the US detective show, told The Times that his presidential bid would be based on his belief that Americans wanted change and that he was uniquely placed to provide it.
I think they perceive the reality and the reality is that perhaps this is the occasion where the man meets the times.
He said he had the experience for a tough presidential campaign in an already crowded field for the Republican nomination in next years presidential election. As we say where I grew up this aint my first rodeo. Ive seen it up close and personal. Ive had good friends run for president. I've campaigned for them. Ive known a few presidents. I understand what the job is about and I wouldnt run for it if I wasnt willing to pay the price.

LOL!! Hilarious.
LOL! I like it. :)
Uhh try again. That video is on Youtube in more than one incarnation. After 2 seconds of looking, there’s one that has 63,050 views, one with 40,471 views, one with 65,235 views, and I’m sure there are more but I don’t have the time to find them all. Adding to the one that you saw that’s 225,756 people that saw that clip. And I’m sure there are lots more.
If he does show up, I think he'll do well. He's fast on his feet, and fairly gaffe-free.
Thompson thinks he’s above the fray. Why should he bother when he has all these people absolutely crazy, and I do mean crazy, about him?
One of the key strategies to becoming President must be acting Presidential. Presidents don’t show up to media circus dog and pony shows with 12 other people tap-dancing on stage. He should wait until the field has been narrowed to himself and maybe one or two other candidates and then do a real debate where answers can be longer than an eye blink.
>This article is in The Times of lOndon, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch.<
Who really likes Giuliani!
>Presidents don’t show up to media circus dog and pony shows with 12 other people tap=dancing on stage.<
Hey, in case you don’t know it, Fred Thompson is not the president. If he doesn’t play, he won’t win!
Talk about your tap-dancing, he’s a pro.
Did he debate Moore? That must have been hilarious, where can I see it?

FREEPER STATEMENT OF THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes Fred, for these are the “times that try men’s souls.”
That particular upload of it, yes.
The problem is that it’s been uploaded multiple times on Youtube, plus it didn’t even originate on Youtube.
Multiple millions of people have seen that clip, as well as the many of his other speeches and interviews. All of Fred’s videos have gone viral. Which is why the notion that ‘nobody knows anything about Fred Thompson’ and that they are supporting a ‘rorschach test’ are so laughably false.
Does he need to back it up with more? You betcha. But those of us who have been familiar with Fred for many years are very sure that he can and will do just that.
I wouldn’t worry about it. He’ll be in the debates. But he’s been doing the right thing by skipping the pathetic ones that were so early on. They were nothing but a sideshow attraction intended to embarrass all involved. I think the reason many people are so upset that Fred skipped those first 3 ‘debates’ is because they wish their guy had thought of the idea!
You beat me to it - if you’re thinking of the NY Times.
Oh, is there an award being given out now for that? Cause I'm afraid I'd have to disagree.
Did you hear Hillary doing her usual screeching at the Democrat forum today.....take back America....or something.
God, how would we be able to listen to her for more than a minute, if she becomes president....her voice is so demanding, and so repulsive, so arrogant....I just can’t see how she can be elected president once the populous gets to hear her on national TV. Her voice and her demeanor is definitely a turn off. Oh, please God, spare us from this woman.
ROTFLMAO!!
Thank you for your apparently required dose of ad hominem attacks on Thompson and his supporters.
What do debates prove? Has anyone actually been influenced to change their vote because of a debate?
The way Fred has been doing it (blurbs on the internet) is going to be the way of the future. Connecting with the people on their level. That is what Fred is doing now and he is doing it masterfully. All the other candidates are pissing their campaign contributions away. Fred hasn't spent a dime in campaign contributions and he is ready to take the lead in this race.
He needs to stay out of the fray until the last possible moment -- after all the other candidates have run out of money and embarrassed themselves in these worthless debates.
Wait Fred, Wait!
