I don’t know that it’s that obvious violence isn’t part of the celebration. I don’t mean that violence is advocated but the whole “celebration” is based on resentment: resentment about slavery and resentment that it took so long for official notice of the Emancipation Proclamation to reach some blacks. So if you are stoking negative attitudes, then violence is a logical, if not inevitable, outgrowth of that stoking.
