Do you trust what Chertoff says?

I don't trust Chertoff, his boss or his employees to say or do anything right. One of the main problems I see with any Senator offering amendments is the obvious implication that the Senator then supports other sections of the bill.

The only "amendment" that I would accept would be one that rejected all other clauses in this bill. The amendment process here is a cover for those Senators who are going to vote to shut off debate but want to have a position that they at least tried to change something.

The leaders apparently are not going to allow any really useful amendments to S. 1639, so I think I mostly agree. By their actions, senators have brought a historically high degree of infamy to the senate.
