Dick Morris: Bloomberg Could Win Presidency
A Michael Bloomberg presidential campaign could prove to be more than just a spoiler in a Democrat versus Republican battle he could actually win the White House as an independent, according to political analyst Dick Morris.
"If Mike Bloomberg decided to run for president, he would have a strong chance of winning the election, Morris told NewsMax after Bloomberg's announcement on Tuesday that he was switching his party status from Republican to unaffiliated.
"As a social liberal and a fiscal conservative, he fits what most Americans want. And unlike Ross Perot, the last independent candidate for president, he is an experienced politician who has succeeded in handling the second toughest press corps in the world in New York City.
"If he ran, he would not just be a spoiler, but would have a serious chance of becoming president.
Bloomberg's departure from the GOP is the latest hint that the New York City mayor is eying a White House run. He has also fueled presidential buzz with increasing out-of-state travel, including a stop in New Hampshire last weekend.
And on Monday he voiced his frustration with the presidential candidates, saying the U.S. is "in trouble because of their refusal to address important issues.
With an estimated worth of more than $5 billion, Bloomberg could easily underwrite a presidential run, just as Perot did in 1992. A Bloomberg campaign "could have a significant impact on the campaign, said independent pollster Scott Rasmussen.
"Nationally, there's a significant segment of the electorate that would give serious consideration to Bloomberg as a candidate.
Morris is so out of touch sometimes....do folks really pay him?
Now, now....surely you know that the American people are begging for a president who favors gay “marriage”, totalitarian gun control laws, sanctuary status for people who illegally slip into our country, open borders, racial quotas for college admissions and employment, and laws requiring medical students to learn how to perform abortions.
dick morris needs an enema.
Good graphic Phil.
Well, Dick, the way I see it from the cheapseats...NO, not only NO, but HELL NO. Have a nice day.
jees dickie has gone round the bend on this one...when he spouts stuff like this i don’t think it helps book sales...just an opinion u unnerstan......
BLOOMING WHAT?
Morris keeps publishing “out of the box” thinking and articles so that he can land a client. This is just the latest one, hoping to get some attention from Mr. Moneybags.
Toe Sucker predicts every possible outcome, so then if one of them comes true, he can claim “I told you so”.
Bloomberg is not Gore....Bloomberg has as much chrisma as a potted plant...he can’t win anything.
“Now, now....surely you know that the American people are begging for a president who favors gay marriage, totalitarian gun control laws, sanctuary status for people who illegally slip into our country, open borders, racial quotas for college admissions and employment, and laws requiring medical students to learn how to perform abortions.”
Well said....these liberals and so-called “moderate” republicans live in a bubble. They REALLY think THEY are the main stream..
Well, that only matters if they actually count the votes instead of just making up some plausible-sounding total. I suspect with the Hildebeast in the campaign, the chances of that are smaller than usual. ;)
Dick Morris is out of his mind.
Let's assume its Thompson (or Romney) vs Hillary and Bloomberg enters the race as an "independent". There could be other indepdents but let's exclude them for now for the purposes of this analysis. We know generally speaking how conservatives and liberals are going to vote. The question is what about the mushy middle and who will Bloomberg take more votes away from? I thought that question would have been fairly obvious.
Does anyone have an analysis of this?
Ok .. this is just a guess on my part .. but the liberals are not necessarily going to go for Hellary .. mainly because they don't like nor trust her .. so many could very well go towards a Bloomberg or Nader should either jump in the race
as for the mushy middle .. imo they are usually center to kindof right folks .. though they are not really comfortable with a strong conservative .. but also don't like voting for a candidate who will raise their taxes .. (even though they like the freebies they can get)
Back in the day they were called Reagan Democrats
Some went back to the Dem party .. others saw the light and stayed with the republican party or stayed a dems but never voted for a dem again
It's possible they could vote for Thompson .. though I would place my bets on Romney more so .. mainly because of his looks
i know that is a stupid reason for someone to vote for a candidate .. but it's a fact that looks play a factor
Me too. I will never understand why he is the “supposed expert”.
I can’t bear to listen to him. He sounds like a girly man.
The Libs will be split between Bloomberg and whoever. The Conservatives will walk away with it.
