Indian-Americans Dump Obama, Rally Behind Hillary

Indian-Americans have dumped US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama for his caustic remark ridiculing rival Hillary Clinton's links with Indian-Americans and has rallied behind the former first lady, boosting her fund raising campaign.

Indian-Americans from across the US and business leaders from India will be converging here to attend a major fund-raising dinner Sunday which aims to collect around $500,000 to $1 million for Senator Clinton.

Over a thousand guests, including India's Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and leading NRI businessman S P Hinduja, will pay between $1,000 and $9,200 per plate at the sit-in dinner being organized by the 'Indian Americans for Hillary 2008'.

The Obama controversy has given a significant boost to the attendance at the dinner with most of the seats already being sold out, organizers of the fund-raiser said.

Leading hotelier Sant Chatwal said the target set by the community to contribute at least five million dollars to Clinton's campaign would be met. "Already, around $3 million have been raised and it should be possible to reach the target by the end of this year," Chatwal said.

What is an Indian aviation minister doing, sitting in that political dinner? Dick Nixon got ripped for taking Filipino businessmen's political money. We passed a law against that stuff. I guess that law is just for little people like Republicans.

Thanks for the post Hal. This should remind us that finance reform was nothing of the sort and I can’t believe anyone who voted for it had any intentions it would reform anything. Maybe it’s just me, but this kind of foreign influence peddling seems wrong and should be alarming to Americans.

Hey, if you are buying influence, you need to KNOW that someone will take your bribe and stay bought. You don’t want a dishonest politician thinking the graft is just a campaign contribution.

Hillary is from Chicago (suburbs). The Chicago definition of an honest politician is, “A politician who stays bought”.

Is there a standard nomenclature, not necessarily Politically Correct, just the one preferred by the peoples involved, concerning Indians?

Laugh, I feel the same way. I started this article thinking about casino money . . .

Whew! The headline! For a minute there I thought Native Americans were falling for that old Democrat Party “We’re your friends and we’re here to help you” snake-oil again.
