I’m surprised at all the FReepers who think it’s ok to be linguine spined and not have a good time in your own backyard, especially one with a swimming pool.

The issue here is obtrusive government rules/ordinances and laws telling us how we WILL live, not two kids ages 5 and 11 having a good time that causes a neighbor to go anal about it.

Phew! I was beginning to think I was a bad parent. If a kid can’t scream and make noise in his own backyard, where can he do it? Sometimes children just need to be children.

Next thing you know, people will call the police when the neighbor's stereo is turn up too loud.

When my daughter was young, there'd be six to eight kids in the pool, all screaming their heads off. Mom was on the deck, policing.

One day, I came home from work and my niece cried out, "Hi, Uncle Bob." All the kids followed suit, including two I'd never seen before.

I joined the whole lot in the pool.

My grandpa used to say that children should be seen and not heard. Gramps was wrong. Let the kids be kids.
