I don’t think there is enough info here for me to make a decision. I like kids, and I raised 4 of my own, but in our old neighborhood there were many times when we could not enjoy our deck because of kids screaming while playing in their pools. We, however, never would have complained about it, especially since, during the week, the screaming usually stopped after dark. Weekends were loud until way after dark, but we were usually away. Now, thank heavens, we live in an area where the loudest sound we hear as we sit on our back porch in the evening is the singing of the birds.

I suspect that the biggest problem is that the houses are too close together and there are not enough trees and shrubs to dampen the noise.

Me too. A nice thick hedge or windbreak does wonders to make a backyard feel secluded.
