An off-duty Brooklyn cop - who had left her gun at work - was caught defenseless when a masked intruder ambushed her as she arrived home and raped her at knifepoint, cops said yesterday.
The attacker brazenly broke into her third-floor apartment, located on a busy stretch of Bay Ridge, in broad daylight and lay in wait for the officer before she arrived home at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The 25-year-old domestic-violence officer, who works at a precinct in Brooklyn, told cops her attacker had pushed aside an air conditioner to get into the apartment, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Now she has gone through what ordinary, government-disarmed women AND men have to risk every day - ESPECIALLY in New Jack City!
NYPD officials said officers are allowed to leave their guns at a precinct for a number of reasons. The NYPD patrol guide says officers have to be armed at all times in New York City, except:
* When possession of a firearm would create an unnecessary risk of theft or loss, such as at a gym or the beach.
* When on vacation.
* When engaged in off-duty employment.
* When engaged in any activity in which it would be advisable not to carry a gun.
That last category has me scratching my head...
Think about having an MRI with an attached gun.
Well, in liberal Neww Yorkese that translates to: "ALL of the time, when off duty." That way, they've covered it all.
Got it!
Yeah.
I hope the cops find the SOB quickly.
I do not think she will be leaving her gun at the station from now on.
” “Cops questioned us. They had to. It was like a madhouse,” he said.’
Late one night, as I lay waiting for sleep, a young woman fleeing the police took a corner too widely in her speeding car and slammed into an unyielding tree in our front yard.
I heard the boom, then the sounds of a girl in distress. When I got to the front porch, the police were already there. It was obvious what had happened.
One of the cops took out his notepad and asked me what I had seen. Nothing, of course. Then he wanted to see my driver’s license. This was in Texas and my license was from Washington state. He asked me what I was doing there. I told him I lived there, and what did that have to do with anything?
I think they get started asking questions and don’t know when to stop.
She should be teaching all of the children she works with how to use a gun effectively.
Why didn’t she just dial 911? That’s what they tell us “civilians” to do.
All those were great. Thank you. Stole every one.
I must say I am confused. You were awaiting sleep in your bed and a car hit a tree in “our frontyard.” This was in Texas which I assume is where you were living since it’s “our frontyard.” But, you had a Washington DL while living in Texas. I think most states expect permanent residents to have a local DL, usually after 30-45 days at a permanent address. So which were you-living in Texas or Washington?
Hi Dave:
This thread might be suitable for your “armed citizen” ping list as a negative example of what happens when you aren’t armed but should be.
I bought my mother a window unit that just, sits in the window with those two little nails (that came with the unit) screwed into the window pane. And that's it. Those two nails are all that's supporting it from falling out.
I bought a window stopper that prevents the window from opening higher than the AC but I think you can still push the AC in. Thanks for any help
Naw, never happened, NYC is a safe and peaceful place now!
