AN American navy serviceman accused of grooming an Australian child for sex, over the internet, has been refused bail in a Sydney court.
David Wayne Budd, 28, was charged yesterday with using a carriage service (the internet) to groom a person under 16 years of age for sex.
Mr Budd allegedly participated in an online conversation with a detective from the Child Exploitation Internet Unit who assumed the identity of a 14-year-old girl, on Thursday June 21, a police charge sheet tendered to the court said.
Mr Budd refused to appear in the dock of Sydney's Parramatta Bail Court today, instead he remained in a cell below the court.

Just keep in mind that the military is a segment of society. There are bad apples that need to be picked out of the bunch. Looks like his Navy life is over. I wonder what he was (Rank and job).

There was a CMC (Command Master Chief) busted for the same thing in Washington State a few months back. Wonder what happened to him? Talk about throwing your whole life away!

It’s like that TV show where somebody poses as a young girl with the cops waiting in the next room. The guys are lined up around the block! They all say the same thing, “I only came here to warn her about old perverts on the internet!” despite the fact that he’s carrying a bag full of dildos and has condoms falling out of his pockets.
I wonder if the Navy is going to Court Martial him? I don't think E-7 and above can go to Mast. A Court Martial can bust him down to slick-sleeve (E-1) and take away his pension --not to mention sending him to Leavenworth when he's finished serving his civilian sentence.
Whew! That's rough! Talk about erasing every good thing you've ever done in your life! What was this guy thinking?!?!? Threw it all away for some underage trim.
I have no sympathy for him, hang em high.
All I can say is that he can be thankful that he did not contact a “child” from Polk County, Florida.
If that had been the case, I can assure you that he would have received more than a pat on the wrist.
