There is no doubt that the enemy understands that any chance of victory rests with American public opinion. They have no possibility of a military victory. Setting unrealistic expectations and false metrics [number of bombings, US casualties, etc.] are just tricks used by the MSM to influence US support for the war in Iraq, the “war of choice.” The Administation has done a poor job of fighting the media war.
Perhaps we need to cultivate candidates who are good at this. Reagan was great, but (IMHO) the press was less rabid then, too.
Let see in 4.5 years of war we have taken 3500 or so casualties. By any sane standard of military measurement, an overwhelming, unbelievable victory. This from the SAME media that was telling us we would take thousands of casualties in Baghdad alone in April 2003?
Let strip the PR posturing and demagogic fraud away here. What the Neo Isolationists on the Right, and the Appeasement Now Crowd on the Left, want is to be allowed to redefine victory when ever they feel like it.
The job of the Right side of the Media should be to fight te leftist noise machine, not sit on their butts whining day in and day out"why didn't Bush do this, Why didn't Bush do that".
President Bush is ONE guy. Pretty tough for any President to get his message out when everyone who SHOULD be his echo chamber spend all their time just echoing his political foes propaganda.
