Hmm. Considering Hunter's stance on illegal immigration, his decision to appear at this event strikes me as an interesting.
I live in Texas and know a lot of Hispanics. Maybe Hunter realizes a couple things that some Freepers seem to miss:
- Not all Hispanics are illegal immigrants. Most of them, in fact, are legal.
- People who have gone through the trouble of getting a green card or becoming naturalized citizens often resent those who haven't. Add that to all the all of the other reasons to resent illegal immigrants (e.g. they drive down wages for legal residents), and you have people who hate illegals even more than most Americans.
I realize that #2 doesn't apply to all Hispanics, but it applies to many that I have spoken to.

Lots of Latins and Carribeans are against illegal immigration and amnesty. They have been here for many generations and are Americans. Good for Hunter.

That is certainly true. Hopefully the crowd at this NALEO debate pertain more to choices 1 and 2, instead of the illegals crowd.
